A near-field monitor with that Mackie MOTAH!
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Yes, I really like the look of this monitor, and the tight combination of polymer and steel. I love the built in handle (rather than the strap handles used e.g., on the Galaxy Hot Spot). It feels like you could throw it off a building, pick it up, and it would still work.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
Lightweight, powerful, great design. I would add ... basically ... NOTHING.
Ease of Use
How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be?
Geez, I don't know how they could make it any easier. You plug it in, you prop it up, you plug in your "shizzah," and it CRANKS. The back panel linking features and mic/line switch, and front panel combo inputs, RCA jacks (for your iPod or other playback device), "instrument" and "phantom power" switches are all top-notch features ... what more could you want? I also love ALL the Mackie manuals ... they are just chock full of useful information for tekkies.
Sound
How is its Tone?
Hey, between its butt-whooping 150 watts, Mackie's custom-designed 5.25" neodymium speaker and the 3 band EQ, the punch and dynamic range of this thing is pretty amazing. It's got high end and midrange up the wazoo, and a really respectable bottom end as well, especially if you goose the bottom EQ. VERY well-engineered combo of amp, speaker and EQ features delivers a sound just about anyone should be pleased with in a small package like this.
