| Very good overall.
These drums look and sound amazing. Bass booms like a cannon, toms sing and snare cracks.
12 tom has a slight buzz. Took off the lugs and mounting hardware. Saw a bolt head barely touching metal plate. Added washer and it helped. I still hear it a little, will probably contact Mapex. One hoop on the 14 has a small grind blemish on the hoop edge. All the great things I've read sure these are one off problems. |

| Perfect big kit. 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 great tom intervals. The Blue Galaxy Sparkle Burst finish is beautiful. Maple / Walnut combo sings great.
Playing metal I was a little concerned with the 14x12 and 16x14 (instead of 14x14 & 16x16). No side by side, but they are deep and full for harder music.
The isolation of the toms on this kit is crazy. Really allows them to resonate. Bass drum virgin as can be.
The Emperors/Amb. they come with sound great. I am going to try Aquarian Response 2 just to see.
Hardware seems sturdy and adjustable. Has slot on left tom stand to add cymbal boom arm. Had to reconfigure to get used to 2 floor toms. |

| They sing beautifully. Maple walnut creates a deep sound while still being very open and full. The tuning range is very versatile. I realize I now have a lot of playing/learning to do. So far liking tuned low-med with same tension on batter and reso.
If you are used to a small kit, get some ear plugs. Drums are big and full. Deep full bass drum with nice attack using SuperKick 2 head.
Snare tuned high sounds awesome as well. |

| Excellent deal for a pro set. 1/4 the price of DW for drums that sing just as well. Included tom stands on this "shell pack" awesome.
I was considering other 5 pc kits then I found this 7 pc for way less. |

| I could stare at this set for hours. The Mapex folks did a brilliant job with the flawless Blue Galaxy Sparkle Burst finish. Was afraid the sparkle might be a bit much, but absolutely not. Looks even better in person. |
