Marshall AS100D Soloist Acoustic Guitar AmplifierThe Marshall AS100D Acoustic Soloist features 4-channels, mic and instrument inputs, 2x50W stereo power, twin 8 inch speakers and two high fidelity polymer dome tweeters. It also features superb-quality digital effects (Reverb, Delay and Chorus), a parallel effects loop, and several anti-feedback controls including a Phase switch for each channel and frequency controllable Notch Filters.
The AS100D has been specially designed for use with a variety of acoustic instruments, regardless of whether they have pick-ups built in or not. Between its four channels, this combo has the flexibility to handle instruments with piezo transducers or magnetic pick-ups, plus microphones, for both vocal and instrument reproduction. The two main acoustic instrument channels [1 and 2] may be linked together and feature independent level and EQ controls. The dedicated microphone channel offers a similar level of control. The AS100D also has phono inputs on the Auxiliary channel, specifically for use with external audio equipment.
Its 2x50-watt stereo configuration gives you enough power to perform on stage with superb clarity, while the provision of a balanced line out allows you the luxury of direct connection to an external PA system for larger concerts. The superb quality of the built-in digital effects for Reverb, Delay and Chorus, adds an entirely new dimension to the range of sounds available. The AS100D is actually the first ever Marshall combo to feature digital effects, but it certainly won't be the last! Should you want to add further effects, there is a parallel effects loop complete with level control.
One of the most difficult aspects of amplifying acoustic instruments is feedback. To help eliminate this, the AS100D features several anti-feedback controls, including a Phase switch for each channel and frequency controllable Notch Filters with selectable extra depth for channels 1 & 2.
For clear and detailed performance, the AS100D is loaded with two 8 inch speakers and two high fidelity polymer dome tweeters. There is also an internal limiter which allows you to push the maximum level from the stereo 50-watt output stage, while remaining distortion free.
Compact and portable, the stylish AS100D offers great flexibility and is the ideal amplifier for the acoustic player who wants the highest quality performance, with absolutely natural tonal reproduction.
The Marshall AS100D gives you the power to perform, but with sound so natural you'll forget you're even plugged in!

QUALITY: Manufactured in China, but it has to be under strict supervision from Marshall. It is well built, no flaws in the finish, perfect to the gold finish on the hardware and the material that covers the amp. Knobs are solid and well defined where the FX is.
FEATURES: The feedback controls are very well designed; the ability to have two channels for instruments and one for a microphone is a super plus. The auxiliary channel perfect for adding a CD or mp3 player to perform solo with backtrackings. I have not tested the microphone and the auxiliary yet, but if it is the same quality as the other two channels, they would be good as well. It is a stereo unit between the channels, and you can even link channel 1 & 2 if you have a stereo output in your guitar, I think a real good feature.
XLR outputs and stereo send return for external FX. A footswitch for internal effect on/off wonderful. Probably a feature standard in other amps.

| I bought the unit to match up with a new Takamine 341sc....awesome combination Another great quality of this amp is that combined with my Line 6 POD xt Live, the crystal clean channels provide the best tone and clarity that I've found yet with both accoustic and solid bodied guitars... the onboard effects are pretty good, but combined with the POD, spectacular... | | Playability and Feel:

| Seems well built - Nice covering. | | Features:
| This amp has great sound. (sounds better than my Fender Acoustasonic Amp- and I am a big Fender amp fan - I have 2 other Fender Amps for my electric guitars). Easy to use. Great having 4 channels. I like the effects and the feedback controls on the amp. | | Sound:
| My acoustics sound "alive" with this amp - makes it hard to play unplugged. I really like the built in effects. | | Reliability:
| It's new - Time will tell. I'm not a gigging person - so it will mainly be tested in my living room often. | | Overall:
| Great sound and well built. I play a Gibson Cascade lc1 and an Alvarez Yairi Classical CY128 on this amp - makes them sound even better. | | Value:
| I wish it didn't cost so much :( , but I would definitely buy again. | |
