An incredible studio amp with the signature Marshall British sound, the Class5 offers true class A circuitry to provide the ultimate tone, feel and response in a punchy, compact 1x10-inch amp perfect for practice, in-studio recording and smaller venues.

Marshall Class5 Features
  • 5 Watt, 1x10 inch Combo Amplifier
  • All-Valve Design with Class A Circuitry
  • Powered by 2 x ECC83 Preamp and 1 x EL84 Power Tubes
  • Celestion Designed 10 inch Speaker
  • Compact Design for Playing out or Staying in
An answer to the requests from both pros and novices, the Class5 was created in the legendary Bluesbreaker style, the Class5 gets back-to-basics with a top-loaded, Plexi-esque panel comprising Volume, Treble, Middle and Bass. This simple feature set is the Class5's secret weapon, as what you get in return is authentic class A tone, regarded by many as the purist in amplifier design, rich in smooth second-harmonic distortion. The all-valve signal path offers a wealth of untainted analogue tones right at your finger tips. Sparkling cleans, full-bodied crunch and glorious lead tones are literally just a dial turn away, with the Class5 also responding extremely well to on-the-fly guitar volume and tone control adjustments, making for a truly dynamic playing experience.

All this great tone is delivered through the specially designed G10F-15 speaker. Developed in conjunction with Celestion, this 10-inch 'tone cone' equips the Class5 with fantastic bottom-end clout for an amp of its stature, yet also retains tonal clarity and definition. The rear panel offers both headphones and 16 ohm extension cab output sockets - perfect for either fully-cranked silent practice or driving a mighty 4x12-inch 1960 speaker cabinet!

Manufactured at Marshall HQ in the heart of the UK, every Class5 combo has been built by some of the most experienced hands in the business. Specially selected components, solid construction, and precision craftsmanship affords the Class5 the durability and reliability you would expect of a Marshall product.

Subject:Marshall Aware of Rattling Issue, Replacing Units
Quality: Awaiting a replacement, had 2 with issues, but willing to give it another shot, now that Marshall knows there is an issue and standing behind the product. That is good to know so yea I will wait for another one.
Sound: Tone is awesome, lush tube breakup, great feedback and sustain.
Reliability: With the fix in place should be good.
Overall: Marshall Forums have posted numerous pages of issues with rattling and making excessive noise. Marshall has acknowledged the problem and has rendered a fix and are replacing units in the field.
Playability and Feel: No nonsense controls, Volume, Bass, Middle, Treble. Plug in and crank it up.
Tone: Tone is subjective to the individual, to me the voicing of the 10" Celestion is a bit darker, but can spank and sparkle with creamy mids and smooth highs when you get on it. Issues aside the tone is awesome.
Finish: Finish looks fine, classy, hence the name eh?
Action: NA

Subject:Great Tone, Cabinet design flawed
Quality: N/A
Sound: The tone of the Class 5 is awesome! Great tube breakup at low volumes. The issue is the bass and the cabinet design (Owned 1, tested 1 other). The cabinet is small with rear and top ports and the amp chassis mounted to the rear panel. In efforts to protect wiring/transformer from tube heat a short metal shelf was attached to the chassis. Great in theory twangs like a jaw harp when you give it any gas. The pressure inside the small cabinet is vented through the 2 ports (top and rear) and every orifice it can find. The cab produces so much wind noise with parts vibrating it's useless to mic for recording. The cabinet is made from 1/2" material and the inside sprayed with thin rubberized material. The overall look of the Class 5 is nice, loved the tone, but the build quality just seems cheap. Maybe made in England, but sure seems they are put together with Chinese parts. Specifically the cabinet. Would have expected better from Marshall.
Reliability: Really cannot say, only had the unit a week and returned it.
Overall: Waited for months for this little beast to add to the studio, what a disappointment. Had it for a week and returned it.
Playability and Feel: N/A
Tone: Overall tone is great.
Finish: The overall outside finish looks nice.
