Marshall MG100HDFX Guitar Amplifier Head

The Marshall MG100HDFX is a 100-watt head and a powerhouse of killer tone.
Using radical technologies (some borrowed from the amazing, acclaimed AVT series), the Marshall MG Series raises the sonic and performance standard of bang-for-your-buck guitar amplifiers. Marshall's exclusive FDD (Frequency Dependent Damping) technology accurately mimics the way an all-tube amp interacts with a loudspeaker, giving the MGs a width of sound never before possible in an affordable, non-tube amp. All models feature a CD input, speaker-emulated headphone jack, and a line out jack. Models from the MG15DFX and up boast built-in, custom-designed digital effects!

MG100HDFX Head
The MG100HDFX will easily drive any cabinet from the Marshall range. Unbelievable tone, feel and projection come as standard. Its two footswitchable channels offer a pair of selectable modes, Clean/Crunch on the Clean Channel and OD1/OD2 on the Overdrive Channel. Each channel has independent tone controls for Bass, Middle and Treble, and the Overdrive Channel also features our critically acclaimed Contour control for tonal versatility. Higher Gain settings on the Clean Channel will yield a healthy, bluesy overdrive, especially when the Crunch mode is selected.

This said, when in Clean mode, this channel has loads of headroom which makes high levels of clean performance easily attainable. The Overdrive Channel's OD1 mode is reminiscent of the throaty drive that has made our vintage amps famous, while OD2 is brimming with modern, high gain aggression. The MG100HDFX's specially-voiced DFX section offers Chorus/Delay, Delay, Chorus or Flange effects plus a natural sounding digital Reverb with its own individual control. Add in Marshall's revolutionary FDD technology, a parallel effects loop (with switchable level an Effects Mix control), CD input, Speaker Emulated Headphone and Line Output plus a Master Volume control, you have a world-beating head.

Frequency Dependent Damping
Marshall’s exclusive, groundbreaking FDD circuitry gives the MG Series the unbelievable depth of sound and unique feel of their legendary, all-tube amps. It does this by mimicking the way an all-tube power amp interacts with the speaker(s) it is driving. This radical technology is incorporated on all MG Series amplifiers.

Incredible Sound - Amazing Versatility
All the MG Series are equipped with Marshall’s proprietary speaker emulation system for the Headphone Out and Line Out. Combined with a CD input, each of these amplifiers is ideal for recording as well as practice.

Subject:Amazing, a must have!
Quality: the quality is above the rest in this price range, the controls do not feel cheap and have stood up over the last 4 years of ownership.
Reliability: probably the most reliable amp head i have ever owned, and i think i have owned them all over the last 25 years.
Overall: i bought this amp because i needed a road head, that i wouldnt cry over to hard if it got dropped or broken for the price, i was amazed at the tone, and have had many many compliments when it is miced at a large venue, compared to the opening acts miles and miles of racks, and very expensive heads. one of the things i love best about this head is its ability to direct record, when you plug it into the headphone output, that doubles as a direct out, and hit record, it has a thick , powerfull, noisless recording tone that will shred your face off every time, then , press a button on it, and its the clean, quiet tone you are looking for....go to a store, give it a try, you'll end up leaving with one!
Playability and Feel: sounds like a marshall
Tone: you cna get about any tone you can think of, the effects are nice, but besides a little reverb to correct the room, i don't use them that much.
Finish: looks like a marshall
Action: not applicable
Skill Level: Semi-Pro
Do you own this product?: i wone it, for 4 years
