Marshall Haze MHZ40C Tube Guitar Combo Amplifier

The Marshall Haze MHZ40C is a rugged gig-ready 40 watt guitar combo with studio quality tone.
Loaded with natural tube tone, integrated effects and intuitive footswitching technology, the Haze MHZ40C takes your studio sound out on the road. No more compromising on tone over effects (or vise versa) and an end to jumping from FX pedal to FX pedal when your solo kicks in!

Marshall Haze MHZ40C Features
  • 40W of all-tube power
  • Compact design for great tone that doesn't take up a lot of space
  • Vintage-style looks and construction
  • ECC83 preamp stage, EL34 power amp
  • Normal and Overdrive channels with shared EQ
  • Emulated spring reverb Onboard effects: Echo, Chorus, and Vibe
  • Includes 2 way footswitch
Classic Tone, Contemporary Control
The compact and powerful Haze 40 combo is top loaded for easy panel access and that classic Bluesbreaker look. Featuring two footswitchable channels where both Normal and Overdrive contain their own independent Boost switch, ideal for fattening single-coil pick-ups for those inspired blues riffs and elevating Overdrive rhythm to thunderous lead respectively. Bass, Middle and Treble have also been joined by a Presence control, allowing further tonal shaping and refinement. As the name might suggest, this combo produces 40 Watts of glorious Marshall tone through two mighty EL34 power amp valves, enough to satisfy both band practice and smaller venues. The Haze 40 also provides a convenient line Out with loudspeaker emulation and a switchable external effects loop, just the job for linking any FX pedals and rack units to the amplifier. If it’s effects you’re after however, the Haze Series has a few tricks left up its sleeve.

Creating the Right FX
The beautiful analogue tone produced by each Haze amplifier is matched only by the scope and creative possibilities of the studio quality effects housed within both units. The custom-voiced and widely adjustable Echo, Vibe, and Chorus effects have been specifically designed to help enhance your performance, whether applied subtly or heavily. Each effect is governed by the Effect Depth and Adjust controls which dial-in the amount of effect in use and control the Echo tempo and Vibe/Chorus modulation rates respectively. Completing the Effects section is a spring-emulated Reverb, which adds both space and fluidity to your overall sound. The key feature however, is that all effect settings are automatically stored to the current channel (and Overdrive Boost on the Haze40), and are recalled when you switch back to that channel – simplicity itself and all from a single footswitch tap. For the tone purists amongst you, the Effects section features true bypass, which completely removes the efffects circuitry and preserves that treasured all-valve signal path.

Fancy Footwork
Included with the Haze MHZ40C combo is a two-way footswitch, enabling quick channel changes and FX on/off toggling. Specially designed for use with the Haze40 however, is the optional 4-way Haze Footcontroller (PEDL-10049) offering extra functionality and control. Stomp your way through the Normal and Overdrive channels, engage and disengage the Overdrive Boost and turn the Reverb and internal Effects on and off at will. There’s no restricting amp-specific cable to worry about either, as all you need to connect the Haze Footcontroller (supplied with cable) to the amp is a simple guitar cable.

If you’ve been searching for a portable amplifier range that delivers on all tonal promises, then look no further than the Haze Series from Marshall, a truly versatile and dynamic blend of modern technology and pure analogue heritage.

Subject:we have a winner!
Quality: VERY GOOD. Effects are okay. Not the worst/not the best. Has a loop, and it loves pedals big time. So very easy to over look this digital side trip.
Sound: Tone is good. BUT, with pedals - TONE IS AMAZING! Throw the Wampler pedal of your choice at it, and it's a whole new scene. I wasn't sure if I would need to use a "Hot Plate" to keep it in line. But no, it's easily controlled at bedroom levels. And it can get very loud when pushed. But it stays sweet and true to the Marshall tone. ALSO,check this out. This amp sounds "absolutely fantastic" through an AVATAR 4x12 cabinet. PLENTY powerful enough for a 120w cabinet. And even though the internal Celestion Marque speaker is good. This amp is way better used as a 40w Marshall head. NO JIVE...And, the black w/silver weave grill that Avatar makes is dead on identical to the Marshall cloth. PERFECT, just like their cabinets.....
Reliability: Just got it. Treat her right, should be fine...
Overall: this is a very nice Marshall. Will most likely be a huge hit for them. More of a real world amp than others in it's class. Makes a great ying to the Vox AC15's yang. Couldn't decide, so I got 'em both...why not? you know?
Playability and Feel: Light but with quality. Just right. Top controls- but easy to see/use. solid Marshall panel in gold is nice. Plastic switches, but they're okay. Reverb knob has a nice click to it to let you know it's disengaged. Same goes with the Effect Depth knob.
Tone: Tone is good with or without the boost switches engaged. This is all personal preference anyway. But it really is kind of a sleeper amp in that it's good right out of the box. But boost & drive & distort it a little (or a lot) and it changes into a beast that is every ounce a real Marshall. Very pleasing --->tones<---as in more than one.
Finish: beautiful amp. simple, sweet. 100% MARSHALL in every detail.
Action: Comes alive the more you crank it. (what doesn't?) But with pedals, response is flowing and smooth throughout the volume range. A good o/d will leave you chomping on the bit, hard...And spitting out spikes! Really puts it's xxxx up in your face. Wish it came that pumped up to start with. It would be glorious...

Quality: Some have knocked the knobs being plastic....its really a non issue to me. As long as the pots work you know. Looks good.
Sound: As you've read its got that marshall sound. You know more middy, more el34 british.
Reliability: Typical marshall quality should last. I've read about defective units but these things have traveled far to get to your home so blame the delivery people.
Overall: Excellant tone for the money. Being the owner of several amps this one really seems to cross over and fill the voids between all my amps.
Playability and Feel: N/A
Tone: Really....one of the best clean tones I've heard. Other amps I have rivera, mesa, line 6, and this one holds its own on the clean channel. Exc for country, great for rock like ac/dc. Not really a metal amp but study and you'll know that. Easily drives one of my mesa 2X12's with vintage 30 speakers.
Finish: Excellant finish. very sturdy looking and pleasing in appearance.

Quality: The knobs seem a little cheaply made but I love the top-mounted controls and the cabinet looks pretty sturdy.
Sound: The tone is pure Marshjall especially when cranked to full volume. I'm using a Strat and it still sings despite the single-coils.The clean sound is what surprises me.Usually marshall has a thibn clean sound but this amp gives you a clean sound similar to my Roland Cube which is known for it's clean tones.
Reliability: have only owned a few weeks but it comes with a 3 year factory warranty.
Overall: Good product . quality seems good and for the price and you still get authentic Marshall sound in an affordable package.
Playability and Feel: top-mounted controls are great.Easy to see and access.
Tone: Graet Marshall tone. Not a shredder's delight but solid, tight, authentic Marshall tone.rverb is a bit weak but the clean sound more than makes up for it.
Finish: Cabinet looks nice and has a nice Marshall logo on the front grill.
Action: Amp was well packed and looks like it was well put together.

Subject:Went through two of them ... then got a DSL 2000
Quality: Well ... that's the point :o) It -looked- like it was built well. It -sounded- like it was built well. But then ... they died :o)
Sound: I thought the sound was very nice ... everything you could want in a tube amp. Plus it had "that sound" that makes Marshalls what they are ...
Reliability: This was the problem. The first one played for about an hour; at moderate volume. Then one of it's output tubes went "all Frankenstein" on me. The second one play for about 15 minutes ... and then crapped-out.
Overall: I'm usually very lucky with ordering on line or ebay But ... in this case ... I give up after two bad ones. AMS was great about the exchanges ... but after the second one ... they were in "back-order" ... so I give up on it ... and moved up to a DSL 2000
Playability and Feel: Played like a Marshall, with plenty of growl.
Tone: It's a Marshall all right!
Finish: Looked great
Action: Nice "juice" level
Skill Level: Semi-Pro
