Awesome as always!
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Totally perfect as far as craftsmanship goes. But, I cannot speak for the longevity part yet. However, it's a Martin and I know their quality well.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Time will tell? Just take good care of her and she should do you right - my other ones did!
Overall
Your general opinion of this product.
I purchased this 12 string Martin with some hesitation. I know their reputation, as I owned a few in my 34 years of playing. But I just could not get over the price. They always seemed excessively over expensive to me. But after making the plunge, I remember now why they price them as they do. Awesome in a word sums it up! No really, this plain Jane 12 string is really a joy and pleasure to hear and play. It's powerfull and yet delicate to handle. Though sturdy enough, it really can create some fantastic sound played fingerstyle or with a pick. I gave it a good workout and I have to admit she really hung in there. She kept her tuning spot on and voiced whatever I asked of it. Amazing for a 12 string. I didn't think I would say it, but I love it - it's everything you'd want and expect from a guitar at this price.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Nice smooth neck. comfortable body and good action for a 12 string - probably the best I have ever tried. Not too stiff and not at all sloppy. It's got a real nice feel to it. Weight is not an issue either - it's just right! I hate heavy crap.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
It can go both ways: bright and dark. It just depends on how you handle her and what style of playing you use. So far I find it very adaptable to every style of playing that I tried. "It's all good."
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The finish is CF Martin. Superb all the way. She's plain, but pretty in her own way, if ya know what I mean. I'm good with it. Yeah, I'm good with it. Minimalist with her appointments, yet refined in her own way. Yeah, it works for me. Again, it's a keeper!
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action seemed really good. I have no complaints. It doesn't look like it needs a professional set up. And, I use a variety of playing styles too. So all in all, it seems pretty good right out of the box - It had better for the price, right? :-)
