Product Description

Martin has a long and rich history of building guitars that are beautiful in both sound and appearance but are tastefully simple. They understand, more than anyone else, what an acoustic guitar is and how it should be made and the D41 is a perfect example of that point. With a solid sitka spruce top, solid east indian rosewood back and sides, and scalloped X bracing the D41 is all about quality and tone. The inlays on the rosette and neck top it off to give a very appealing look while staying true to Martin tradition.

Overall Rating
Exceeds Expectations!
What is your overall opinion of this product?
I love that AMS allowed me to pick the specific serial numbered guitar. This allowed me to select the precise grain pattern for my D41. She is a beauty for sure! The sound is like a HD28 on steroids! Much richer tone than any of the 10 HD28's I sampled. I prefer the sound of standard placement on the bracing and can't stand the V series (or 42's) forward bracing -so for me... This is the perfect guitar!
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
Unsurpassed. All other brands, even Taylor and Gibson are measured by the Martin standard. Martins may be expensive but you truly do get what you pay for. The tone is so much mord rich and alive than any other guitar I have ever played, and Ive played nearly every brand.
Was it easy to reach the strings? How comfortable was the playing position?
Factory action was perfect for me. Some may think it a little high but it's lower than most from their respective factories, and for me this is just perfect. So perfect in fact that I had the action on my Yamaha FG700S (knock around guit) set to the exact same height as my Martin. Perfect!
Is the tone well balanced? How does it project?
There is no comparison to the tone of a Martin. Taylor can't touch it and Gibson is a whole other step down from there. I may be a Martin fanboy, but the tone is the exact reason why.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Beautiful finish. Super shiny without looking fake or varnished. Also AMS allowing me to see and choose the specific serial number I wanted was a huge plus for me. I got the dark rich color, best grain pattern, and optimal finish for my tastes.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
Well Martins are definitely expensive. I love my specific D41 and to me it iz worth it. The HD28 (not V) is a less expensive alternative that gives you about 80% of the same richness of tone if you like the D41 sound but want to save a couple dollars. Again I will say, you get what you pay for.
How was the action out of the box?
The action was absolutely perfect for me. For more details on the action, see the "Feel" section above.
