Great Martin Guitar
General
Your general opinion of this product.
We bought this from American Musical as a replacement for a Takamine. It blows the Takamine away. Also, much better than a comparable priced Taylor. It was setup from the factory and plays great. Has the typical Martin tone, and would be great for Bluegrass. It will be used as the Rhythm guitar in a traditional country band, amplified using a GK MB200 amp and a 12" SICA Neo Dymium Bass Speaker.
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Typical quality Martin build. We have only had this a couple of days, but I would expect it to last a long time.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Feel is very good. Typical Martin. A friend has a D-28 and it feels just like the D-28.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Acoustic tone is great, typical Martin sound and has a lot of ring to it. Amplified its on a par with another guitar we have with a Fishman pickup.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Frets very easy, even with the stock medium gauge strings.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Perfectly finished. It has a matte fining, not glossy. Should help to hold up over time.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
New - can't say but I expect it to last a long time.
