The hole allows for optimum mic placement for live production, where ambient stage noise can be a problem and a little more isolation of the mic is desired. It also provides increased bass drum volume and projection. Adjustable from 2 in. to 10 in.
For extra strength and to prevent any tearing of the head, use the Drum O's hole reinforcement rings to strengthen the edges of the holes you cut.
