Product Description

The MTD Kingston Saratoga 5 String bass is a modern re-imagining of a classic J bass, at a budget-friendly price. It is Michael Tobias’ innovations like the asymmetrical neck and Quick-Release bridge which sets the Saratoga apart from the crowd. The Saratoga has the classic 34 inch scale length, 2 J style single coils pickups which respond great to dynamics, and a rosewood fingerboard which resonates a nice warm tone. If you want a bass that is both classic and classy, the Saratoga is a perfect choice.

Overall Rating
MTD bass low price , quality construction
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Very well made bass. I don"t give it a 5 because the body is not alder or ash allthough basswood is lighter and easier on the back
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
The bset feature on yhis bass is on this bass is the playability and intonation due to the Buzz Feiten tuning sytem and the necck construction which tapers toward on side of the neck making it a dream to play withh little hand fatigue.Chords also are in tune up and down the fretboard.
Your general opinion of this product.
Overall this is a great bass worth twice the money. It is an entry level-priced bass that is much better than other basses costing twice as much. If you"re looking for active evectronics you may want another model but for a basic bass that stays in tune with great action and classic tone you can"t go wrong .
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Not too bright in my opinion and has that familiar classic Fender bass tone.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Excellent finish with no blemishes.
