Product Description

The Gemini CDJ700 CD MP3 Player offers tons of flexibility for today's DJs. The Gemini CDJ700 focuses on two key elements of modern DJ performance: versatility and control. DJs can no longer be restricted to using a single format, so the CDJ700 offers playback from CDs, SD cards and USB memory devices in the most popular file formats (MP3, AAC, WAV and AIFF). Plus, the CD slot, which features compatibility with CDs, CDRs and MP3 CDs, has a super quick load time of just eight seconds!

Always on the cutting edge, the Gemini CDJ700 gives a new dimension of tactile command by incorporating the industry's first touch sensitive display screen. Now you can navigate between folders and tracks, adjust tempo and even set effect values using the same intuitive controls found on the world's most popular media players and smart phones. The LCD touch screen display that has allows you to control features like time, tempo, BPM, track select and even effect values can be controlled with the touch of a finger. The Gemini CDJ700 also has a large, super accurate, high resolution jog wheel with three selectable modes allows you to operate cue, scratch, slip and loop adjust functions, while a display screen in the middle of the wheel indicates your mode, track position and slip position. You can even fine tune the jog wheel's resistance for a custom feel with the Rotary Adjust feature. The Gemini CDJ700 offers ultra precise beat matching and the Master Tempo mode enables tempo adjustment without changing the original pitch of the track; but if pitch manipulation is your thing, then feel free to tweak away with the Pitch Control fader.

The Gemini CDJ700 includes MIDI that allows you to control the parameters of your favorite DJ software right from the unit and route your audio through its 24 bit 192 kHz soundcard and provides six DSP powered effects with Dry Wet level control. Additional functions like pitch bend, hot cueing, reverse and loop sections.

The CDJ700 includes line output jacks on the rear panel, along with a USB out for hooking up your computer. And a digital output (S / PDIF) allows you to plug into an external mixer or even interface with your favorite DAW and record without conversion.

Overall Rating
Ease of Use
Absolutely love it!!
Your general opinion of this product.
I love this unit. And I love the fact that it looks exactly like an over priced Pioneer CDJ. I know it's Gemini. But they have seemed to have turned a corner with the overall quality of their products the last couple of years.
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I read reviews criticizing the all plastic form. To those so called experts, here a tip: If you don't throw the this unit against a brick wall, or drop it from a 2 story building, it should last for years to come. Put it in a good case or coffin. This product other wise seems very durable in my opinion. How ever, time will tell.
Ease of Use
How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be?
Still learning for I don't have the time to play with it every day as I would like. But right out of the box, a novice would have no problems using just the basic controls of this unit. Plays just fine with my Mixvibes Cross Pack. The manual is easy to read and understand. Using a thumb nail device is very easy and convenient.
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
The best features have to be the USB, jog wheel and the touch screen. I bought the Mixvibes Cross Pack because my obsolete Denon DNS1000s don't have USB. I got tired of putting music on cd's. Now I can throw every thing on a thumb nail device or an SD card and I'm good to go. And I can still use cd's if I want. And I can switch between the three functions while in use. I love this jog wheel. It's huge. Alomost 8 inches. And again, guess which other jog wheel it looks like. Very nice jog wheel display. It has a jog adjust. But even on the lightest settings, to some the wheel might feel heavy. I'm a BPM mixer and not a scrather. So for those turtablest, this unit might not work well for that talent. But for pure blend mixing, this unit is perfect. I like the touch screen though I find myself not using it often. Again I've read reviews saying that the screen is to small. For those people, hit and ophthalmologist. Remember, It's $400, and not the $2000.
How is the tone?
Excellent and clear sounding. I use both the digital out and the rca's. The power that comes from the digital out is tremendous. Twice as loud then the rca's. Works perfectly with my Denon DNX-900 digital option.
Was this item an overall good value?
$400 bucks! SOLD!!! Even if I wanted the Pioneer CDJ's, I'd first have to hit a bank for a small mortgage. Rate are still good after all. But spending a couple of thousands on 2 units when I can have a virtual facsimile is a no brainer given the price point. A year ago this unit starting selling for $600 bucks. $400 seems to be the bottom line price for a brand new one. I don't see how they can sell for less the that considering the features and look of this master piece. Even at $600, this thing is still worth it. I'm a retired club DJ, so these things are perfect for my bedroom where it all started for me and countless others so many years ago. Your not gonna see these units in a big club application. But for small venue, bar, etc...these unit should be perfect for those situations. Or if you want to upgrade to something more sophisticated and full featured, like I did, then the Gemini CDJ-700 is great option, with out breaking the bank, or knocking one off.
