Hercules DJ Console MK2 Control Surface with Audio Interface

Hercules DJ Console Mk2:
The world of MP3 meets vinyl: Total mixing!

Click here to view additional versions of the Hercules DJ controllers with or without an audio interface.

Hercules is expanding its range of DJ hardware and launching the DJ Console Mk2 which is the first digital mixing console with integrated audio. Plus it serves as an interface with DJ's vinyl turntables and CD players. The DJ Console Mk2 allows users to not only mix on their computer without any other device, but also integrates itself into a DJ’s usual analog equipment!

Following the success of the first DJ Console launched in 2003, Hercules is proud to offer an even more professional and high-performance solution.

A Versatile Mixing Station
With 2 stereo inputs to connect 2 vinyl turntables or CD players and 2 stereo outputs allowing users to play their mix over amplified speakers or redirect the sound to an effects processor or external mixer, the Hercules DJ Console Mk2 can be used on its own or function as an interface between a computer and a DJ’s other analog instruments.

The DJ Console Mk2 is perfect for mobile DJs and music lovers, as it combines all DJ functions in one compact and transportable unit. It’s also great for clubs and home studios, as external devices can be connected to its 2 stereo inputs to mix audio files from a PC together with music from a vinyl record, CD or groove box. The DJ Console Mk2 is truly versatile, since it allows users to mix on its own or with other mixing devices, depending on the DJ’s equipment and preferences.

DJ Console Mk2 Innovates

  • Via mixing of 2 analog inputs, to mix together an audio file and an external source (CD player, MP3 player such as an iPod, etc.),
  • With 2 phono level and line level inputs, for connecting all external music devices (vinyl turntables or CD players),
  • With new, more precise and more elevated jog wheels, designed to make scratching easy,
  • With a split mode to listen to 2 separate pieces of music on a pair of headphones, without having to move the headphones to listen to the mix being played in the room and songs being previewed on the headphones.
The DJ Console Mk2 also includes the functions that made the first DJ Console a success: a double mixing deck to control DJ mixes, a sound card dedicated to DJing, a microphone input with a talk-over function and a headphone output for previewing songs. It is still portable to accompany a DJ anywhere: compact, it connects to a PC’s USB port, is powered by the USB port, and includes a shoulder strap and a detachable cover for transportation. In conjunction with its software, the DJ Console Mk2 gives DJs total control of their music, with a highly precise instant BPM counter, as well as effects to transform, filter and loop audio files, allowing DJs to give their mixes the kind of personality they desire.

All Types of Mixing Are Possible
With 2 analog stereo inputs, 2 mixing decks and 2 analog stereo outputs, the DJ Console Mk2 allows for all types of mixing:
  • Digital mixing of audio files on the DJ Console Mk2’s 2 jog wheels
  • Mixing an audio file on a PC together with an analog source from the audio inputs, allowing the DJ to play a hybrid analog and digital mix
  • Mixing 2 tracks directly in the DJ Console Mk2, or keeping them separate to mix them once they have been output from the console, on an external mixer
  • Mixing with time-coded vinyl records* played on external turntables connected to the console via dedicated software*.
    *Not included
DJ Console Mk2 accompanies DJs through all stages of their career

The DJ Console Mk2 can accompany a DJ through each stage of their career, whether it is their first DJing instrument or the DJ is already equipped for analog mixing. The DJ loses neither their DJing markers nor the dexterity they have acquired on their current hardware. They don’t have to change their style and can concentrate completely on their performance!

VirtualDJ 3 DJ Console Edition Software Included!
VirtualDJ is the hottest MP3 mixing software, targeting every DJ from bedroom DJs to professional superstars like Carl Cox. With its breakthrough BeatLock engine, your songs will always stay in the beat, and you can work your mixes incredibly faster than any other DJ could.

The automatic seamless loop engine and the brand new synchronized sampler will let you perform astounding remixes live, with no preparation at all. The visual representation and the cues allow you to clearly see the song's structure, and never be surprised by a break anymore. The vinyl controls will let you scratch like on a real turntable, except that with the beatlock engine your scratches will never end out of the beat.

Add to that an infinite number of cue points you can save for each songs, a bunch of wonderful effects automatically beat-synchronized.

Add also several interfaces to suit everybody from the beginner to the professional DJ, the possibility to record your mixes to burn them on CDs, to broadcast on the Internet and have your own radio station, to save your CDs directly in MP3, to use a headphone to preview the songs or an external mixtable to perform in a club.

Lastly, using the Time Code option, enter the new era of DJs by mixing video clips (DVD, DivX, MPEG...) which you can send on a giant screen.

Virtual DJ brings you all that, in the most easy-to-use way!

Lets be honest, read the other reviews, how can a piece of gear even be worth buying if it cuts out in the middle of your set? I had high hopes for this little guy, but regret buying it, the quality sucks!! I am running windows xp pro, 2.2 ghz processor with a gig of ram, laptop is brand new, bought it three days for the hercules, to move to digital. MISTAKE! The unit barely works, before sound cutting out and or software crashing, very common complaint about this unit, is the headphones cutting out...I think the drivers are bad...I called customer service and spoke with some lithuanian lady who had no idea why the unit was cutting out. I went to radio shack with the manual and unit and bought the exact adapter for this unit and it still didnt work...i think I just got a defective unit, but reading the other reviews, Im pretty sure this is for home dj's not working djs who are going digital...

FEATURES:
it has all the bells and whistles

Good sound. I don't like how the sound lowers when using the talk over with the mic.

Subject:Hercules is a Champ!
Quality: The overall quality of the product is good. BUT, too many plastics were used in the construction. The next-gen Herecules Remix is made of sturdier metal, but unfortunately doesn't work nearly as well as the MKII.
Features: The Hercules MKII integrates seamlessly with Virtual DJ. The arrow keys along the top center of the board allow you to quickly select looping and effects. A quick press of the button allows for quick application of effects or seamless looping.
Ease of Use: The controller itself is easy to use. What's difficult is mastering the settings necessary in order to get good sound out of it. Many people are expecting to be able to just plug the controller in and have perfect mixes -- and that's not going to happen. You have to adjust settings (latency, for one is the most important setting) to match the capabilities of your PC as well as the style of mixing you intend to do. Once you get your settings correct, the Hercules is an amazing tool.
Value: It's the single most valuable piece of equipment I have -- so much bang for your buck. I use it to broadcast to an internet radio station I DJ for, I use it to interface with club sound systems, and I use it when I do mobile DJ events. It is a very integral piece of equipment for me now. The fact that a $250 piece of equipment can take the place of both my expensive table top CD players and digital mixer is amazing. I almost wish I would have bought it first!
Appearance: As mentioned in the Quality comments, the console does almost appear toy-like... but it more than makes up for that with it's performance. I wish Hercules would repackage the MKII as it is in a more professional-looking package. The Hercules Remix does look much better, but it doesn't perform nearly as well as the MKII.

Overall:

QUALITY:
I had problems with my headphone controller switch and program from the jump. On the headphone controller in order to here the a or b deck alone I had to constantly flip it to the a/b position and then flip it to the one I wanted to hear. The software also crashed on me a few times and the scratch feature for one of the decks was not responding.

FEATURES:
The Efx's were dope when I could get it to work without the sofware crashing.

EASE OF USE:
The system is pretty easy to use.

VALUE:
If I can get the problems corrected it would be worth the money.

SOUND:
. Most definitely need an outside mixer with this one.
