QUALITY: Very impressive and solid. Photos don't do them justice. They feel like they'll probably outlast me.
FEATURES: Mackie are the best at sneaking every last usability feature into a product. The S8 is no exception. No sleep mode, however.
EASE OF USE: Very straightforward, of course. The short manual explains each feature, and its proper settings, well.
VALUE: I cannot believe these are so inexpensive.
SOUND: I have heard better, but not for less than 3 times the price.
STYLE: Electronic
MUSIC EXPERIENCE: Professional
OVERALL: Imaging is very impressive on the S8's. I've mixed on NS10's, JBL 4208 and 4312, and various Genelec and Tannoy models. The S8 is not as pretty as the Genelec, but I prefer it that way. Some Tannoy monitors, especially the older concentric units, are cleaner than the S8 but not by much. This is what's so great about the | |

QUALITY: Excellent quality. These will probably outlast my career.
FEATURES: The S8 offers more rear panel controls than just about anything in this range. An auto-off function would be nice, however, since the power switch is hard to reach.
EASE OF USE: The included manual goes over all functions and explains the settings well.
VALUE: After spending some time with these, I can't believe they are so inexpensive.
SOUND: Fantastic sound! They don't have the sheen of Genelecs, or the cohesion of older concentric Tannoys, but they also don't cost one third as much. They blow my old JBL's and NS-10's away for clarity and image.
