VOX DA5 Digital Guitar Combo Amplifier

The VOX DA5 Guitar Amplifier delivers Vox amp tone in a portable, compact and affordable package.
Introducing the affordable, portable DA5 Digital Amp from VOX. Don't let the small size fool you. This rugged little beast boasts some killer bells and whistles, such as 11 distinctive sound styles ranging from clean to high gain, 11 great sounding, digital effects, a knob-based control panel that's really easy to use plus a whole lot more. The new DA5 even offers battery power (6xC batteries or AC included adapter), making it the best sounding, truly portable guitar amp.

Portable - Versatile
The new DA5 amp combines portability and versatility. Today's guitarist wants a palette of guitar tones to choose from, and this new amp delivers. Whether it's a clean, shimmering guitar sound, raucous crunch, or full-tilt gain with outrageous overdrive, the new DA5 has it, and all points in between.

Great Sounding Effects
The versatility extends to a full complement of 11 digital effects. The DA5 features auto-wah, chorus + delay, chorus + reverb, compressor, compressor + chorus, compressor + phaser, delay, flanger + reverb, reverb, rotary + reverb, and tremolo + reverb. There's also a Tap Button that makes it easy to set the delay time or modulation speed.

Play it Anywhere!
The ingenious DA5 can be powered by its AC adapter or by six C batteries. A built-in output power switch (5W, 1.5W, 0.5W) helps extend battery life and lets you play at lower volume without losing any tone or feel.

That's not the only trick the clever DA5 has ups its sleeve. Connect an external audio device such as a CD or MP3 player to the DA5's AUX IN, plug a mic into the MIC INPUT, plug your guitar in, and you can play and sing along with your favorite band or recording!

Great for Practicing and Recording
The DA5 is equipped with a combination Line/Headphone output so you can connect to a headphone, mixer or recorder. The amp's emulated line out provides a full, realistic sound whether you're recording direct or listening through headphones. And since plugging into the jack defeats the speaker output, you can practice when you want, where you want, and as loud as you want in total privacy.

Subject:Nylon String Guitar on VOX DA5
Quality: It looks and feel solid. The MIC volume knob (in the back) stick out too far (relative to the body) so if you travel the knob is easy to get banged on.
Features: I wish it has the SLR inputs too along with the 1/4 jack. So if you have the mic with SLR cable then you have to have the SLR-to-1/4in transformer to plug in. That's how I mic my flamenco guitar. I also wish they have the AC adapter built-in instead of a seperate piece that you have to cary them around. I guess you can't have every thing since this unit is battery powered.
Sound: The tone is much better than my Roland AC60. The DA5 sounds best if you keep the volume down enough. Again my application is nylong string guitar. I have the Fishman pickup (under saddle) on my guitar. And on both MIC or Line application it sounds best if you have the volume down. This means it works well in intimate setting. I'm sure it sound great with elec guitar on high volume
Reliability: Don't know, just have it for 2 weeks
Overall: I've heard that the new Roland Mobile Cube was very good from Chuck Keyser review. Hey Bulerias Chuck, thank you for all your reviews. It helps me lots on my searching for the guitar amp. For my usage the DA5 chorus is too much. I only have it in "clean" selection. The Mobile Cube looks much simpler. For those out there playing flamenco guitar, it's tough to get a guitar amp that works for your guitar unless you have a big sound system with sound engineer on hand
Value: For $140 it's good value.
