    Product Description

A pint-sized, 20 watt valve hybrid head, the Micro Dark Terror is driven by a 12AX7 preamp section that offers tones from ‘Clean’ to ‘Mean’. Features include a buffered effects loop , headphone out with CabSim circuitry. Pair with a PPC108 cabinet for a small but powerful practice rig.

Orange Micro Dark Terror Mini Electric Guitar Head Features

    • Single channel valve/solid state hybrid amp head
    • High gain preamp
    • Shape control
    • Fully buffered effects loop
    • CabSim circuitry loaded headphone output
The Micro Dark shares the same intuitive Shape control combined with a new 12AX7-driven high gain preamp section which yields screaming dirty tones that make a mockery of its miniature frame. Like its bigger brothers, however, the Micro Dark’s smoky black chassis and simple layout actually disguises its cunning versatility.

Of course, there’s plenty of gain on tap to satisfy even the most discerning devotee of distortion, but this little beast is by no means just a one-trick Metal monster! Beneath the menacing exterior you’ll find a rich and diverse palette of classy and confident tones. From squeaky clean to brash and mean – whatever your style – you’re gonna love this thing.

Other features include a transparent fully buffered effects loop and a headphone output with Orange’s popular CabSim circuitry. When with PPC108 cabinet, the Micro is an ideal practice rig… Plug into something a little larger, though, and you might find your new secret weapon in the studio!

The Micro Dark sports a new high gain circuit which blends valve and solid state technology. The preamp uses single 12AX7/ECC83 valve and produces a huge range of usable tones with warm cleans, smooth overdrive and fat, singing distortion. Its robustly designed solid state output section means the Micro Dark can be paired with any 8-16 Ohm cabinet. Plus, it’s so small you could lose it!

Orange’s exclusive Shape control varies the midrange response whilst interacting with the bass and treble. Working from the 12 o’clock position, a subtle nudge to the left adds more midrange and smooths the highs. A clockwise notch or two reduces the mids and brightens the tone.

At the extremes the Shape’s effect becomes even more pronounced, especially as you begin to push the Gain control. A scooped, thrashy voicing with a ‘smiley face’ EQ is easily achieved in the fully clockwise position, whilst turning fully anti clockwise aggressively boosts the mids, for a more ‘classic’ bark.

The Micro Dark’s fully buffered, low impedance loop allows for any number of effects and cables to be patched in without sacrificing tone. It’s incredibly transparent, meaning your pedal arsenal will perform to its absolute peak.

A popular feature on Orange’s Crush Series amps, the headphone output includes our CabSim circuitry which faithfully emulates the sound of a mic’d Orange 4×12” cabinet loaded with the flagship Voice of the World speakers. Use headphones for silent practice or connect to a mixer/recording console to capture huge, authentic Orange tones in the studio.

What is your opinion of this product?
Love it! It has no problem powering my (2) Jet City 1X12 cabs. For those of you that think this amp sounds thin, etc. just place an eq pedal out front or in the effects loop and you should be good to go. Keep in mind that wah pedals, distortion and boost pedals should go into front input jack. I bought mine from a local music store only because they had it in stock and I was able to compare it with the Micro Terror and the Ibanez TSA15 combo. The TSA15 is a nice amp don't get me wrong. I played it the longest, but for 1/3 of the price, I chose the Micro Dark. FYI - the input jack is on the right side which is opposite from most amps so be careful not to plug your guitar into the headphone jack. The blue power LED is a nice touch also. Try one! I was very impressed. ROCK ON ORANGE!!!

What is your opinion of this product?
Sorry orange. First off the effects loop is terrible. Tons of noise and hiss even with levels near zero. Then a huge headphone issue when turning on and off. I have several orange amps. I love them. This one is going back for the second time. Do not buy. Read reviews online about the noise. Huge issue

    Best amp under $200 !
What is your opinion of this product?
I heard so much about this little bad boy & when I bought it I was not disappointed.. this thing is LOUD! it can crank! I paired it up with an old Marshall 4x12 and its loud enough to gig with. The effects loop works great I use a reverb pedal for a little depth but other than that the tone is awesome. This thing is pretty basic - which is a good thing in my opinion! only 3 knobs volume tone & gain and nothing else. Its idiot proof to use and has great high gain sounds which I use for hard Rock / Metal. Def recommend it as a practice amp or even a small giging amp if paired up with a 2x12 or 4x12

What is your opinion of this product?
it does everything they say the shape control is nothing short of amazing , the tones change with slight movements. The gain does go from a smooth overdrive to asty , and yes you can dget a very clean sound ....this will be a great addition to the professional studio I work at.

Perfect for recording studio and small venues. No mini head comes close to the sound you get from this little monster. For $189 you cant beat it.
