Intended for DI and preamp use the Palmer PDICTC Tube DI is a versatile and valuable piece of equipment in any collection. From the preamp side of the coin, a 4-band filter circuit has been integrated. The Palmer PDICTC gives a balanced signal at the XLR output connectors that is electrically isolated due to the true tube circuit with output transformer. The signal path and filter stage don’t have any semiconductors whatsoever. Mains powered, the integrated power supply produces the tube voltages the equipment needs. This box features both a balanced line level and a ¼ inch unbalanced low impedance output in addition to the standard parallel and balanced mic level outputs. The wide band low, lo-mid, hi-mid, and high frequency filters are musically expressed. To bring out the delicate tone characteristics of a tube, the PDICTC uses a circuit design based on using the shortest possible signal path. This is why the product does not take advantage of a volume control. Due to the unit's extended dynamic range no limiting occurs before signal levels surpass +30dBu at the line output. A bell- shape filter characteristic has been chosen to prevent boosting unwanted subsonic frequencies along with those beyond the audio range. To exactly replicate sound settings each and every time Palmer decided on distinct toggle switches to set each of the four frequency bands to 0dB, +4dB, or +8dB.
