Product Description

Peavey 6505 Series amps feature five 12AX7 preamp tubes and four 6L6GC power amp tubes, with presence and resonance controls and three-band EQ for taming their notorious tone.

While known as the 5150, these amps became the undisputed go-to guitar amps for scores of rock, hardcore and metal bands due to their raw tone, relentless power and road-proven reliability. The 6505 is still the unquestionable choice for an ever-expanding list of endorsers, including 3 Doors Down, Ted Nugent, Atreyu, Steve Morse, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Visqueen, God Forbid, HIMSA, Darkest Hour, Sworn Enemy, Unearth and many more.

The Peavey 6505 Series guitar amplifiers were named in celebration of Peavey's first 40 years, 1965 to 2005. The 6505 is also the relaunch of the 5150 Series, the immensely popular amplifiers Peavey designed with Edward Van Halen.

Overall Rating
Playability and Feel
NOT your typical combo amp
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
This amp is built like a tank with high-quality materials.
How has it stood up over time?
Haven't had it for a long time, but I can tell it has great durability.
Your general opinion of this product.
Ended up being the perfect amp for a wide variety of tones.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
It has amazing tone and really pulls out sustain. I can get a great clean sound, an even better chunky sound, and an incredible metal sound from it. With a Digitech RP1000, I am able to get some of the best sound I've heard.
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
It may be a combo amp, but it sounds like a half stack. You can really crank this one up and still maintain great tone.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Finish is great and durable.
How was the action out of the box?
Everything was ready to go...plugged in, let warm up for just a bit and then let it scream.
