Overall Rating
A wonderful 5 string
What is your overall opinion of this product?
A fantastic beginning five string-I've been playing a four string for years and decided it was time to try something new-I wasn't looking to spend a lot but I didn't expect such good quality for such a low price!
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
I have had this over a month. When it first arrived the frets were extremely sharp and I was going to take it in to get them filed, but over about a three day period the bass adjusted to the atmosphere and no action was neccessary.
Are the features on the product what you were expecting? What are your favorite features?
It's an all-around excellent bass-I'm learning the fifth string and it's been wonderful to be able to learn on a good quality instrument
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Easy to get to the knobs, keeps tune impeccably through environment changes-winter to spring to summer in Minnesota, in and out of A/C, humidity, dryness, hot, cold, you name it!
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
I was not a fan of the stock strings, but once I got those changed out it plays beautifully.
How did the stain or paint job look?
I really love the coloration and patterns-it's a darker blue than I expected but the graining patterns are incredible!
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
I was not expecting near this quality for such an affordable price-it's not a $1,000 bass but it definitely works well
How was the action out of the box?
Great-the only adjustments needed were time to adjust to the atmosphere and new strings to fit my preferences.
