Peavey PR15N Neo PA Speaker

The Peavey PR15N is a lightweight (passive) PR Series enclosure that's now even lighter and more efficient with its upgrade to neodymium magnets.
The PR Series delivers superior sound quality by utilizing the most advanced materials, such as a lightweight, road-worthy molded polypropylene enclosure that will endure years of load in/load out abuse. Now outfitted with efficient, lightweight neodymium magnets, the Peavey PR Series ranges from 47 lbs. on the powered PR 15P to a mere 20 lbs. on the PR 10.

The PR15N is a two-way speaker system that is lightweight yet rugged for live music or speech applications and will handle 400 watts program and 800 watts peak. It utilizes a heavy-duty 15 inch woofer with a 2 3/8 inch voice coil and a RX14 1.4 inch titanium diaphragm compression driver coupled to a constant directivity horn. Its durable injection molded enclosure features a black powder-coated steel grille that provides driver protection and a professional appearance. This system can be used on the floor, be pole mounted or flown via top and bottom flying inserts. Connections are made via two quarter-inch phone jack connected in parallel to accommodate daisy-chaining. Now with light weight Neodymium woofer.

Subject:Good PA speakers finally get light!
Quality: These PR15N speakers are very solid feeling and durable, with no rattles, cracks or cosmetic flaws. If they are built to Peavey's usual standards, they should last a long time and give years of service.
Features: I especially like the lightness and portability of these units. I appreciate the stand mount sockets on the bottom, and they have both top handles and a pair of side handles for convenient carrying. They might want to consider using both 1/4" and speakon jacks though, or one of those combo-type jacks they have out now, so they could be used with either type of cable.
Ease of Use: I've been using and hauling big old Peavey SP3s and FH1s for decades, which were great sounding old speakers but monsters to schlep around into and out of the van. These new designs finally let me have a good sounding main speaker that I can carry in one hand! What an advancement! (Especially now as I get older) They are very easy to use. No manual is included, just a spec sheet with safety instructions about proper ways to use and mount. They are very "playable" and have become my new main PA speakers for weekend type band gigs.
Sound: They sound great, especially for such compact units. I can see where a subwoofer would help if you really want to shake the floor or ground with bass power, but for a normal small band gig they are all you should need. The are full range, with strong and clear highs and well-balanced bottoms. They take EQ very well so you can get a good full sound - however you prefer it.
