Product Description

The Peavey Rage 258 makes stepping up to a louder, more powerful amp incredibly easy and affordable.
If you've been playing through practice amps and gotten less than favorable results, then you my friend need to get yourself the Peavey Rage 258. Huge tone out of a small box! The basic building blocks of the TransTube sound are the exclusive designs of the preamp and power amp. The preamp section tailors gain to meet the need for any amount of drive, from crystal clear to thick, smooth sustain. The power amp reacts just like a tube output section by responding to the preamp with natural compression that increases as the amp gets louder. With TransTube, you get a killer amp with widely ranging dynamics and natural grit, just like a tube amp!

Overall Rating
Playability and Feel
Surprisingly Loud
Your general opinion of this product.
First solid state amp I have bought in years. I bought this because my little 5 watt tube amp is a bit loud for bedroom playing. Boy, I was mistaken in thinking this little Peavey was going to be quieter.
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Product seems solid. We'll see how the chinese craftsmanship holds up.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
N/A its an amp.
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Pretty good overall. For me, I tried the various "voicings" in the eq and really have no use for any of them except the vintage voicing. Lead channel is usable, but only in a very small range of the pre gain. Oh well, for $99 you can't be too picky. Folks this baby LOUD LOUD LOUD. Easily louder than my vibro champ. I think you could do a small jazz gig with this amp and have no problem. Don't let the size fool you. I almost wish I had gone smaller, but what the heck...I wanted the three band eq. FWIW, it should have reverb. Only thing I would really change.
How was the action out of the box?
How did the stain or paint job look?
Looks new...cause it is.
How has it stood up over time?
Can't tell you yet.
