PreSonus BlueTube DP Tube Microphone Preamp

The PreSonus BlueTube DP is a two-channel microphone/instrument preamplifier with Dual Path Technology.
The BlueTube DP will replace the award-winning BlueTube by adding enhanced features including a dual signal path with both a solid state preamplifier stage and a tube preamplifier stage. This feature lets you switch between an ultra quiet transparent solid state preamp and a smooth, round, warm tube preamp. Each channel on the BlueTube DP features dual mic/input connectors, balanced XLR and 1/4 inch TRS outputs, 48V phantom power, -20dB pad, polarity inverse, and 80Hz roll-off filter. The BlueTube DP is a perfect front-end preamplifier for microphones and instruments for any digital audio workstation.

  • Stereo dual path Mic/Instrument preamp using 12AX7 tube
  • High headroom, Class A gain stage (55dB gain)
  • XLR and 1/4 inch High-Z Neutrik combo connectors
  • Each channel provides:

It's strong and compact.

FEATURES:
BEST FEATURE: Versatality of tube intensity and tube / line input choice. NO WORST FEATURE!

EASE OF USE:
Piece of cake!

VALUE:
The value is oustanding for $200.00 dollars - plus a free COMP 16! How can you ignore that?!

SOUND:
Hey, it's not a Manley, an Avalon, or a Universal Labs, okay? But it has a really good sound for only 200 dollars, and sounds way better than units over twice its cost, easy!

QUALITY:
Built well and it definitely looks nice.

FEATURES:
This preamp doesn't have an on/off switch. So don't forget to unplug it.

EASE OF USE:
The tube and the gain work fine.

VALUE:
Considering it doesn't have an on-off switch and the inputs are in the back of the unit it should be $xx.xx.

SOUND:
I haven't mastered it (didn't think I had to). My sound keeps coming out distorted. It could be the mic, maybe not. Time will tell.

STYLE:
Rap, Hip Hop

MUSIC EXPERIENCE:

OVERALL:
It's a decent preamp. I definitely get a louder signal. I can't really hear the difference in the tube in my recordings but like I said before...I may need a better mic.

Subject:Good for guitar, beware of the AC adaptor
Overall:

QUALITY:
Quality of unit shell is good, but AC adator is a piece of garbage. Flimsy wire. Any tension at all wire will short this cable out. Tension relief for cable is a thin metal spoke behind unit you wrap cord around. Very stupid and cheap design. New adaptors are $26. plus shipping. This unit seems to have poor shielding also. The blue tube would "sing" with noise until I moved it 3 feet away from my racks.

FEATURES:
The best feature on this unit is it's looks. It is very pretty, but you can spend a lot less and get just as quiet a unit, built just as well.

EASE OF USE:
It is a no brainer to set up. Just plug it in and start turning knobs. I bought these Blue Tubes (4) to punch up my drum machines before they hit my Maximizers. The idea was to push the tubes to add a touch of crunch to the drums. And by pushing them to "11", they did just that.

VALUE:
Not worth the cash. For guitar or bass a $75. tube pedal would
