Product Description

The PreSonus BlueTube DP is a two-channel microphone/instrument preamplifier with Dual Path Technology.
The BlueTube DP will replace the award-winning BlueTube by adding enhanced features including a dual signal path with both a solid state preamplifier stage and a tube preamplifier stage. This feature lets you switch between an ultra quiet transparent solid state preamp and a smooth, round, warm tube preamp. The new BlueTube DP also boasts a -6dB better signal to noise ratio and higher input headroom than its predecessor.

Each channel on the BlueTube DP features dual mic/input connectors, balanced XLR and 1/4 inch TRS outputs, 48V phantom power, -20dB pad, polarity inverse, and 80Hz roll-off filter. The BlueTube DP is a perfect front-end preamplifier for microphones and instruments for any digital audio workstation.

Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Again, quality seems fine--just needs to have the tube replaced with a better quality valve.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
One can crank the tube for a bit of warm distortion or have it be a straight solid-state signal.
Ease of Use
How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be?
This unit is easy enough to use--XLR and RCA jacks in and out. Buttons and dials all function fine and easily. The VU meters are a bit iffy but you should be adjusting the sound with your ears, and the volume on your amp/recording deck.
Sound
How is the tone?
Tone is excellent--for the price--once the factory-installed tube is replace with one of better quality. It's a simple procedure that changes the sound from jagged/brittle to round/warm....
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Seems sturdy enough. I wouldn't want to perform any "Drop Tests" on it, as with any equipment with tubes.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
For the money, it's fine, but IT REALLY NEEDS TO HAVE A BETTER TUBE DROPPED IN. It's very simple to replace it and once you do that, the sound is WARM and not brittle sounding, as it is with the stock tube it comes with.
