The PreSonus Comp16 is a powerful, versatile, professional, 1-channel compressor in a compact 1/3-rack (5.5” wide) box. The Comp16 has 16 compression presets, customized for applications like Vocals, Percussion, Fretted Instruments, and more. Simply turn the dial to the preset you want and the Comp16 will make all of the attack, release, ratio, threshold and knee settings automatically. You get full control over Input and Output levels with independent front-panel knobs, and you can always see what is going on with the large, backlit VU meter. The Comp16 is equipped with 1/4” (balanced TRS) and XLR input and output jacks (one each per channel)

Quality: The Comp16 is a 1/3 rack space compressor that is built like a tank...all metal enclosure!
Features: If you are looking for a compressor with adjustable threshold, ratio, etc don't waste your time with this unit. If you are looking for a simple, clean, easy to use compressor then the Comp16 will be a perfect addition to your live or studio rig. I own a couple of different compressors but, wanted an easy interface to compress vocals on the front end of my project DAW.
Ease of Use: I'm very familiar with compressors anyway but, if you've never used one...buy this product. It takes the guess work out of dynamics processing.
Sound: The Presonus Comp 16 has extremely low signal to noise ratio. The first thing I did out of the box was insert the unit into a channel on my live board and crank up the input channel on the Presonus...zero hiss. Depending on what preset you use there are actually some very transparent compression settings on the Comp16. There are also some settings that heavily color the sound.
Reliability: I've only had the unit for 2 days...hard to say. It's built "heavy duty" so it ought to stand up to abuse on the road.
Overall: It's exactly what I expected; A simple, compact, clean, compression unit that can be used in a variety of settings. I bought it to use with a portable DAW rig.
