The PRS Smokeburst McCarty Electric Guitar is a dream machine. Paul Reed Smith guitars are famous for superb design, craftsmanship, and quality hardware and electronics. The McCarty model is special because it honors one of the electric guitar's most important pioneering designers, a direct mentor to Paul Reed Smith. A carved figured maple top, mahogany back, and mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard provide excellent tones for this double-cutaway instrument. The Smokeburst McCarty gives you an array of great tones, thanks to two PRS 57/08 humbucking pickups with a volume control, as well as a three-way selector and a push/pull tone control. PRS Stoptail bridge and vintage-style tuners keep the Smokeburst McCarty in tune.

Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I used to like thin necks until I played the PRS "Wide-Fat" neck design. It actually provides more support when doing pull-offs. The controls are perfectly designen. The 3-position switch is alot more functional than the "Rotary" switch used in other PRS models. Also, you pull the tone control and both PU's become 'single coils'.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The "57/08" pick-ups give you access to any type of tone you want. You just need to 'tweak' your control knobs and switches to accommodate your style.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Very nice and spotless.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Mine was perfectly set up by the PRS techs.
