The PRS Paul Reed Smith P22 10 Top Electric Guitar is a completely new venture for PRS, offering the company’s first piezo-equipped solidbody guitar. Along with the gorgeous 10-Top figured maple top, mahogany back, and mahogany neck with a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, the P22 features a redesigned PRS/LR Baggs piezo system that has to be heard to be believed!
PRS and LR Baggs partnered more than a decade ago to design the piezo system found in PRS’s popular hollowbody models. This new system retains the same circuit design as the existing system, giving the Paul Reed Smith P22 the same tonal authenticity and real world practicality as PRS hollowbody guitars. The redesign of the board itself yielded a version that is more than 60 percent smaller than the original system, allowing it to comfortably inhabit the P22 solidbody. Uncovered 57/08 pickups round out this guitar’s specifications and help define the P22's voice.
There are two output jacks on the P22. The first is a Piezo/Magnet Pickup mixed output while the other is a dedicated piezo output. A mini toggle allows you to select between magnetic pickups only, piezo pickup only, or a blend of the two. This makes the PRS P22 incredibly versatile on stage!
