This Paul Reed Smith SE Custom Electric Guitar has all the style you want at the affordable price you can handle.
The genuine maple top with flamed maple veneer on a mahogany back along with a set wide, fat mahogany 22-fret neck produce the resonant sustain and high-end bite that made PRS famous.

Custom designed components in the SE Custom include dual bare zebra humbuckers, chrome tuners, and high-sustain wraparound stoptail. The entire instrument works as one to deliver an even-ness of tonal color, amplitude and feel - no matter where you are on the fingerboard.

Subject:PRS SE - Big bang for the buck
Quality: The quality surprised me. The only issue is the tuners need to be replaced with a set of good ones. Take it to a good guitar smith.
Reliability: So far it seems to be very reliable with no issues.
Overall: Overall it is the nicest guitar I have ever bought for this price range (no joke, as I have owned a few) including fender. I gig on a normal basis and I am a strat lover forever but this thing beats anything in this price range for me. I wont get into fret spacing near the body compared to a strat as the strat has more room to rip down there.
Playability and Feel: Take it to a good guitar smith for a tuner change out (dont be cheap here) and a little fine tuning maybe as it is worth it. Right out of the box it was in tune and the action was awesome. It comes with a set of 10/46 prs strings on it and I would not change a thing there. Easy to play and light wieght. The pick ups are great right out of the box.
Tone: Great tone right out of the box as with all PRS gtrs. Pickups are an individual thing depending on what you play. But, these seem very nice/responsive right out of the box so you decide for yourself.
Finish: The finish and paint job is awesome. It looks far more expensive then its price. Keep in mind the colors are always a little different for each gtr just because that is what wood will do. Natural wood has its own unique shading qualities. But the finish is solid and will last a lifetime if taken care of properly as with any gtr.
Action: The action is very smooth and a pleasure to play right out of the box. I have changed nothing here as it was set up great when I got it. The neck is super smooth and fits my hands very well. I can play for hours and hours on this thing very easily. I dont miss the tremolo as I just use my hands/fingers for that effect.

Sound: I took it out of the box and recorded with it on a session. I wanted just try it and hear the sound through the engineer's board for a test. I ended up using several tracks on a very important recording. I played through a Marshall 50w 212 combo and used very little effects on the track 'Amoreena'. All electric guitars on this are my PRs out of the box. You can hear it at www.myspace.com/davekoonsandthekoyotes. Granted, it is a folk rock kind of tune. Not much wailing, but you can hear the tone of the pickups and as an overall guitar sound, I am very happy with. The enxt session I'm doing requires more guitar rpesence and more ballsy parts. I'm using this PRS.
Reliability: SO far so good. Ive had it 3 months now. Nothing has fallen off. loosened or anything.
Overall: It looks great and plays just as well It is a little weird seeing a flat top PRS, but it's just fine with me. A close examination will soon tell you it's not a $3,000 McArty, but it looks and feels better than $600. The workmanship is more than adequate. it's very light and will make those long sessions more comfortable. It stays in tune fairly well...which is my biggest issue with a guitar. All controls are close and it's just very comfortable.
Playability and Feel: Very light. The kind of guitar that's easy to play behind your head. The neck is a little thin and feels really fast. I have long fingers and I have to approach it a little differently not to be so heavy handed, but its kool. It is a big switch from my Les Paul; which is a heavy thing.
Tone: Middle of the road. Not real chunky, but I didn't push it that direction thus far. The highs cut through nicely on leads, and when playing clean it rings very full. If you're playing heavy metal, you may need another pickup at the bridge. I'm not feeling that kind of power, but would be worth going through the hassle for the playability. It is a very versatile sounding guitar.
Finish: Sweet!
Action: I re set the action a hair, but it was very good put of the box.

Quality: Great for the price...I am very happy...I will buy another and another and another.....and, with the AMS 3 payment plan, for me, this is possible. So AMS "Please" keep this make and model in stock...you will have no problem selling them..
Reliability: Puchased mine in july of 08....No problems so far....When changeing strings you will notice the studs that screw into the bushings have loose tolerances...I believe Tone Pro Studs may fix that....may not really matter since string tension holds them in place....But, I'm always modifing somthing...
Overall: I like it better than my PRS Mcardy Model and half the price..except for the pickups..I really like the Mcarty Neck Pickup. You may want to change the pickups if you want less mud and a little more output in the bridge. Bottem Line.. great guitar, resonable price...stock or modded...I Love it
Playability and Feel: Plays great...I can dig it...somtimes when buying guitars they are not setup. you most likly will have to does this to your own taste, if ya get a little string buzz no worrie just tweek the truss rod a little and your good....
Tone: Mooohagany body..stock pickups not bad..But, I changed the pickups to Seymour Duncans, sh5 in the bridge and an sh1 in the neck....Sounds great to me, I think it sounds better than the stock pickups..The sh5 is a ceramic pickup and takes sum of the mud out and gives ya a little more juice than the stock bridge pickup. the sh1 is alinico and, it is supposed to sound like a 59 pickup. I have never heard a 59 paf pickup before but..so far I like...sounds a little like my Mcardy neck Model...But, honestly when I put the sh5 in the bridge first and tried it with the stock neck Pickup, it made it sound better..it did not sound bad at all...or maybe it just appeard that way because of the contrast...bottom line...great guitar..stock or modded
Finish: The Gods are happy..
Action: pretty good right out the box...I like to tweek though...
