Not A Bad Buy!
What is your overall opinion of this product?
Everyone says the same thing when you purchase a guitar for under 500.00 bucks, expressing how the guitar was worth the Cost. Yea, that's usually why the value is set so low to begin with. I purchase on average 6 Guitars a year. I played the PRS Santana and fell in Love a while ago. I Purchased the Santana model 3 months before I purchased this PRS Tremonti SE and that is why I posted as low as I did regarding Stars. I will say that if I had purchased this guitar first I would have given it more but I was spoiled with the Santana model. PRS Santana was only 100.00 + more but man was that worth the extra cash because I can't find a guitar at or around 500.00 that plays like it. Overall PRS is a great guitar even though it's Manufactured in Korea it's still American Quality Specs and I would put it up against the Gibson SG I purchased recently for 900.00 made in another Country or my Fender Strat I got in NOv for 700.00 made in Mexico. Its all relative to the Feel and Sound.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
Nice Sound, without getting into detail I love the feel and the look of this guitar. The Grey and Black upgrade maybe the way to go in my opinion, I would pay the extra dollars for the upgrade Finish and probably more. But if you can't afford to go much more than 522.00 this is a good buy Quality speaking.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Great feel with only one exception: I was disappointed in the Neck. The frets didn't seem to be smooth enough and like my Gibson SG they were a little extended and could use a manicure.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
I haven't had the chance to open her up just yet and play like I would like so its hard to say now. At low to mid Volume its not bad at all. I was jamming some old school Led Zep on it when I got it and the sound was spot on. No complaints thus far to offer.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Nice Finish and body, Just one Color with no in grain or added colors so it's plain but has a great Glossy look which reflects nicely.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
Yes, it is worth the cost and more. Nicely priced for this Model.
How was the action out of the box?
PRS is 2 for 2 this year right out the Box. Now that is a good thing when you can play right out the box and it doesn't require a trip to the repair shop to get set up. My Gibson was not set up well and the intonation was terrible and couldn't be fixed at the local auth dealer; what a mess that can grow into with 100.00 return to Gibson to pay for Shipping. So PRS has been good to me. Stays in Tune nicely No issues other than the Frets to mention. I think when I get that worked out it's going to play just as well as the Santana Model, we shall see. To be continued.
