REMO has added a new snare head that’s expected to rule the market for the heaviest snare hitters. The EMPEROR X is the thickest snare head ever made by REMO. The Remo Emperor X is available in 13 or 14 inch version. The 14 inch head weighs in using two 10mil plys of ambassador-weight film bonded with a virtually indestructible 5mil Black Dot on top and then the head is coated. The EMPEROR X was changed into a production item after more and more artists began ordering them as custom heads. Mike Fasano (Warrant) who was the first to create the buzz about the new 20mil head, loved the idea of a snare head with this much attitude. He in turn got John Tempesta (Rob Zombie) and Matt Sorum (The Cult), Tre Cool (Green Day) and Travis Barker (Blink 182) hooked on the new head too, and the list continues to grow.
The EMPEROR X is thicker still than the previous heavy-hitter’s benchmark emperor-weight heads. Its introduction is the first time in decades that the drumhead leader has expanded the number of drumhead weights beyond its other two classic diplomat® and ambassador-weight heads.

An Unusually Durable, Inexpensive, Weather Resistant Material
The Remo story began after WWII when experiments were being made with Mylar®* a polyester film made by DuPont. (Mylar® was used during the war as a heat resistant film for nighttime reconnaissance flights.) This unusually durable, inexpensive, weather resistant material that provided previously unattainable pitch, tone and consistency intrigued Remo D. Belli, an already successful drummer. And, because of Mylar®, Remo began his legacy with the Weatherking drumheads, the very first Remo first.

Throughout the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, Remo continued to innovate and became the world’s drumhead specialist in virtually every category.
