All In One
Plug in and play — what could be more convenient? The AX Synth has everything you need to steal the show. Unlike most remote synths of yesteryear, the AX Synth is self-contained and loaded with hundreds of Roland’s greatest sounds. External MIDI devices are not required. Everything is built-in and ready to rock.

Control Freak
The AX Synth is packed with cool controllers for expressive live performance. Glide your fingers over the Ribbon Controller for ultra-smooth pitch bends. A Modulation Bar and dedicated control knobs are also provided for real-time sound shaping. Wave your hand over the invisible D Beam for attention-getting effects.

USB MIDI
While the AX Synth is completely self-contained, it’s also capable of driving external instruments via MIDI. Plug into a MIDI device, and enjoy an unlimited world of sounds and textures, all controllable from the AX Synth.

Custom Programming
The AX Synth has a vault of great solo sounds onboard, but if you want to customize your sounds, you can download the dedicated PC software editor/librarian application. The AX Synth’s USB/MIDI connector makes communication to and from your computer fast and convenient.

    I've been waiting my entire life for a synth like this!

    Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
    Here's where it hurts the most. This Synth cost well over one thousand bucks but it feels like a toy. It's a very light plastic feel to it which I don't care for. A little bit of ruggedness could help. Maybe use some aluminum or steel to add more durability to it. I understand it's a shoulder strap synth so weight is an issue but more quality materials and less plastic wouldn't hurt.

    So far I pretty much got this to play the guitar effects which are amazing. The keys feel punchy and really respondent. It's kind of like a guitar shaped which means they adapted guitar like qualities but in synth form. Very Smart! very usable!

    So many different functions but like us all who reads manuals first? We jump in and play and it was an adventure so many nice quality sounds and the controllers are right where you want them.

    Durable and well made, with some extras like cord holders, which is handy and rare on synths of this type.

    I'd say the best feature is the internal sounds. The others in the AX series didn't have any of their own sounds

    The internal sounds are extremely easy to access, and some of them are exceptional, very usuable without tweaking them at all.
