The GW-8 comes loaded with hundreds of the freshest and most essential sounds taken from Roland’s top workstations. In addition to its authentic sound set, the GW-8 is equipped with many user-friendly controls, such as the expressive D BEAM and the Analog Modify knob, which allows instant adjustments of sounds to suit your taste. Intelligent Backing Styles
The GW-8 is packed with a huge collection of styles representing a broad range of music genres, from contemporary rock, pop, dance, jazz and beyond. In addition to the excellent library of contemporary sounds and styles, the GW-8 is equipped with ethnic instrument sounds and authentic regional musical styles, with special focus on Latin American genres. Each backing style has four intros, four main patterns, and four ending progressions for you to craft your own arrangements live.

USB Memory Player Feature
One of Roland’s most popular new features is built into the GW-8: the multi-format Song Player that allows song data to be played directly from USB Flash memory (accepts MP3, .WAV, AIFF and SMF format). In addition, the GW-8’s Center Cancel function can minimize main vocals from pre-recorded songs, great for karaoke-style performances or music practice.

Style Converter & Playlist Editor
Bundled with each GW-8 is Roland’s Style Converter software for PC, which lets you create and convert your own MIDI data into GW-8 backing styles and install them via commercially available USB Flash memory devices. Also included is the Playlist Editor for customizing the order of songs. Users can easily create a dedicated Playlist for each gig.

Roland GW-8 convert! from California
Overall Ranking:
Quality:
Value:
Action:
Ease of Use:
Features:
Sound:
Subject:Great Latin beats!
Quality: Feels a bit like my old $300.00 Kawai's, sort of Plasticy although not flimsy, but the Plus is that it's very light and the Sounds are Professional Grade.
Features: The mp3 player with the voice mute is very good. The LATIN beats are great!
Ease of Use: I find the lay out user friendly. it's my first Roland and I like it.
Sound: Professional sounds! I like most of them.
Action: It felt good. I just plgged it to the power and to my monitors and it was good to go. Easy to get playing right away.
Value: Considering the features and the Price this is a great value!
Do you own this product?: I own it! I bought it at AMS!

Ease of Use:
Features:
Sound:
Subject:Does not work well as a MIDI slave
Quality: OK, but very cheap plastic, very light. The keys are toy-like small (much shorter than a normal synth key) and very clunky with very little feel.
Features: Good arranger, but don't buy it if you think you're going to steal Fantom G sounds- it doesn't work well slaved to MIDI, and has a annoying upper-lower voice structure that makes playing a simple voice (like the great pianos) complicated.
Ease of Use: So-so, not very intuitive
Sound: Great
Action: Poor
Value: OK
Do you own this product?: Yes, but returned it.

Sound:
Subject:this is a amazing board,im shocked roland sells it so cheap 895 is a steal you cant beat this board
Quality: roland did a good job with its design its not metal its plastic but it seems sturdy,i wouldnt drop this sucker it is very light
Features: feature wise its a great for 895 it has like a arranger setting to it more than a workstation, meaning there is a 16 track sequencer but you cant loop only rec live which sucks, and there isnt a mixer to mix tracks you made volume effects etc.....
Ease of Use: if you dont have experience with roland keyboards then you will have a tough time with this one,ive been playing for many years and even i was lost only with the sequencing though, but getting from sound to sound is easy and split etc....
Sound: every sound on this bad boy is so real except the organs the organs are terrible, but the pianos, brass, bass, guitars and every other sound is so real it will blow you away
Action: dont expect the keys to feel as good or be as big as the fantom 6 or motif xs 6 but there alot better than korgs lower end boards and the roland juno g/d
Value: for 895 you cant beat the sounds that comes out of this board i say roland nailed it once again with this board, its better than any board near its price korg m3,yamaha mo as far as sound quality goes.............GO ROLAND UR THE BEST

Sound:
Subject:Outstanding sound quality and features for a bargain
Quality: Sound Engine derivated from Fantom X, sonic cell and Srx-09. Looks pretty solid, roland style, better than my psr-s900 regarding quality construction, black brushed metal on front is a nice touch.
Features: 128 poly usb recorder/player 16 track sequencer great sounds, brass and piano section are simply impressive analog controls for real time effects (equalizer, effect, filter, envolope) This is an synth featuring fully arranger function
Ease of Use: not easy, once you get used to it, it's pretty straightforward, I'm coming from yamaha,
Sound: superb sound engine
Action: keys are not as big as fantom x or motif es, but have a solid feeling.
Value: it's under 1 grand, it is a great value
