Continuing a great tradition
It's been twenty years since the first Roland Jazz Chorus guitar amplifier made its appearance. With its astonishing JC chorus effects and distinctive clear, tonally pure sound, the JC amp has become an industry reference, maintaining its impressive qualities. The uncompromising sound quality, unique chorus, total dependability and rugged construction make for an amplifier that any guitarist around the world can have confidence in for musical self-expression.
Independent twin-amplifier, twin-speaker configuration along with unique spatial chorus effects create the famous JC sound.
Hard fibre sections and rivets protect the amplifier edges and corner guards are also provided. The JC-120 features heavy-duty construction inside and out to withstand rough use onstage and on the road.
With the JC-120 amplifier, you can rely on getting all the tonal character of your guitar. That's because distortion is extremely low and frequency response accurate. It also helps ensure you get the best sounds your effects can produce.

| I am just getting back into playing, hoping to play professionally someday. I am in a condo and have to watch the volume. I have not had it above a 1 out of 10 volume setting yet. This amp has plenty of power. I can't imagine what 10 would be like. It has a nice clean sound. I can picture this amp being used for many types of music. | |

QUALITY: 5 -- Built like a tank [and weighs about as much]. For the price, I would have expected a three-button foot switch to be included. I had to buy three separate footswitches.
FEATURES: 5 -- The best feature is the Stereo input with two independent channels, so I can jam with others, play at different volume levels, and not share the same effects. The distrortion sound is a bit funky, but I can live with it.
EASE OF USE: 5 -- No problem. Just plug in and turn it on.
VALUE: 5 -- Great value [I got it as a return without any paperwork]
SOUND: 4 -- Clear as a bell, but it has a bit of a hum. It is so powerful, that I only play it at 2 in small clubs. I've played outdoors and still haven't turned it up past 4. I don't really know how loud it will go. The hum is not a factor except when I'm playing at home at low levels. | |

QUALITY: Over the years this amp has been replaced with cheaper plastic knobs (used to be metal) and the front grill is lighter and less well made. The amp still holds up well but requires a little extra care as it is not very heavy duty like the Fenders or Marshals.
FEATURES: I play my electric violin through this amp and it is the only amp I'm aware of that has two dedicated 1/4" inputs that connect directly to the two seperate power amps which allow me to plug into my stereo processor and from there, run a stereo pair of line level signals right to the two power amps bypassing all of the front panel preamp circuitry. Considering there are no tweeters, the twin 12" drivers combined with the relatively clean amps (unique amongst guitar ams) this unit gives a surprisingly high-fi output especially when you consider I'm using a violin!
EASE OF USE: A no-brainer...owners manual not required.

| I have had a JC-120 by my side since 1983; I've never had one fail or "lay down" on the job. You can drive them to absolutely INSANE volume levels, and they don't give up. One caveat: the distortion is, umm, LESS than satisfactory; I'm not sure why Roland still insists on including it. But if you're looking for a powerhouse amp that will tolerate ANY effects you use, and always sound good, then the JC is for you. I love 'em! |
