Roland SPD20 Electronic Drum Pad

The Roland SPD-20 offers strikingly realistic acoustic drum sounds - ethnic percussion, fat electronic sounds and unique effects, all in a compact multi-pad unit.

Inside the classic eight-pad, single-unit design you’ll find 540 high quality drum & percussion sounds and an array of groove enhancing sound effects.

The SPD-20 includes classic 808/909 kicks, snares, etc., and percussion sounds from India, Japan, China, Korea, South America, Africa, Australia and the Middle East. It also has the ability to directly trigger internal sounds from an acoustic kit using only trigger units.

Up to four additional pads/triggers may be connected to the back including Roland's electronic percussion pads and popular KD7 kick trigger and FD7 hi-hat pedals. These capabilities make the Roland SPD-20 a versatile instrument, which can be used with an acoustic or electronic drum set or act as a stand-alone unit.

Subject:Exactly what I expected plus more...
Quality: This product is light weight yet it feels sturdy and durable enough to last a LONG time.
Features: The main reason I chose this over the SPD-S is the Velocity sensor feature for each eight pads. As well as being able to layer sounds to make them crossfade into each other depending on how hard you want to set each individual velocity setting at. You can do alot to each sample(which it has 700 very nigh quality sounding samples). Four different effects, Reverb, Delay, Chorus and Flanger. All each can be tweaked in their own way as well as setting the pitch and volume level for each. The only problem I have with this whole machine is that it doesnt have a faster/easier setup to mess around with them features. BUT it isnt hard at all to get into and figure it out.
Sound: VERY NICE sound. I'm really impressed. The only feature I don't like that was left out is that you cannot import your own samples, BUT that shouldnt matter since the 700 samples on there(which can be altered/tweaked in many ways individually!) are top quality. I'm pretty picky with getting the right sound for snares, kick drums, hihats and so on, but this unit really hit the spot. You'll be impressed.
Overall: Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. I've been addicted to playing all kinds of songs with this machine and it keeps getting better with time. For $550 shipped you really get your moneys worth!
Value: Great value thanks to amercianmusical.com! I could of ordered it from guitarcenter(they have to order it since they dont carry it in their stores and they do price match), but I would rather give my money to company who was nice enough to set that low of a price first.
Appearance: It doesnt look amazing but I do really like how it looks, especially if your really into electronica, very digital looking.
