Roland TD3SW V Compact Electronic Drum Set

Roland TD3SW: The Most Affordable V-Drums Upgrade
The TD3SW is the upgrade to the current TD3SV, and features Roland’s new PDX8 snare mesh V-pad and CY5 hi-hat cymbal pad. The most affordable kit in the V-Drums family now performs even more like its bigger V-Drums brothers.

Roland TD3SW V-Compact Features
  • The most affordable V-Drum kit!
  • New snare mesh pad (PDX8) with expanded 10-inch rim size to improve the playability of rim shots
  • New hi-hat cymbal pad (CY5) with wider playing surface and a swing-type design, which offers a more natural playing feel and appearance.
Includes Roland's TD3 Percussion Sound Module with high-quality sounds and extreme expressiveness.
The TD3's sounds are uniformly excellent, the ambience control is very organic, the compressors sound perfect for drums and the coach is just plain fun. It tells you if you rush or drag against the click or it takes you through exercises. One mode speeds up slowly; another drops out every few measures to test your timing.

PDX8: V-Pad - Improved V-Pad for Snare
Roland’s newest mesh V-Pad (PDX8) offers an expanded 10-inch rim for more comfortable and quiet rim-shots, as well as separate head and rim triggering for authentic performance.

CY-5: Dual Trigger Cymbal Pad - Improved Cymbal Pad for Hi-Hat or Splash
The newly designed cymbal pad (CY5) features a 12-inch playing zone and swing movement for more drummer-friendly triggering. The pad also provides separate bow and edge triggering. The CY5 can be also used as an additional cymbal pad, such as a splash, on V-Drum kits.

Bass drum pedal not included and shown only for photography purposes.

Subject:Pros and cons
Quality: thing is built amazing for a kit that costs less than a grand. I was impressed by the playing feel of the solid rubber pads, i figured the only one that would be worth a crap would be the snare mesh head, but to my suprize the tom pads are comfortable
Features: I like the trigger response, this is my first V drum kit so you can imagine the kind of crap i've been playing. Honestly, stick with roland.
Sound: Considering the kit cost less than a grand... decent. But im running into real trouble trying to record this kit, the trigger samples just don't fit the metal sound im trying to squeeze out of it. It would help if you could tune the trigger samples, but theres no option for that. The only snare sample that sounds close has WAY too much ring to it, and no way to dampen it.
Overall: Really, my only complaint is the TD-3 module that comes with it. But in all honesty, I knew it wasn't going to be much, considering the low cost of the kit. Even being dissapointed in the lack of features the module has, the pad set is just fine.
Value: cant really beat it for the price, really.
Appearance: looks killer in my bedroom!

Very easy to assemble(it took me about an hour). Manual is very helpful.

VALUE:
Worth the money to buy a quality set that will last and retain its value. Roland offers a good warranty. There are several authorized dealers in my area in case I need service/parts.

SOUND:
Crystal clear sounds. Just like acoustic sets. Its fun to hook up a cd to the controller and play along with your favorite tunes.
