Subject:Tapping into great bass tones made really, really easy
Quality: So far the VB99 seems really well made. I've only had it a few weeks. If you've played the VG-99 then you may be disappointed in the VB's lack of the alternate tuning function. Everything else is just like the VG-99... only for bass.
Features: The modeling and tracking is excellent. I'm the type of guy who hears the sounds I'm after in my head and doesn't want to try fiddling with hundreds of different basses and amp combinations to get these sounds. I don't have that kind of time. If you're like me the VB99 will be a great tool. Best features are the wide selection of basses and amps built right in to the thing. Effects are fantastic, the best among those I've played with so far from Roland.
Sound: Tone is everything and the VB99 won't disappoint.
Playability and Feel: Very convenient design. I got it with the optional stand and GK3B pick-up. You need the pick-up, otherwise it's not worth the money. Seriously, let me say that again: VB99 + GK3B pick-up = a happy bass player.
Tone: The divided pick-up is optional, but you need to get it to dial in the VB's potential.
Finish: Sleek paint job. Smooth. Sexy.
Action: Right out of the box the sounds playable from the VB99 are pretty good, a few minutes of tweaking and the tones are great. This is a pricey item, no doubt. Its possiblities make it worth the money.
