Your general opinion of this product.
The Quality of this guitar is incredible for the money. UPDATE..At the time I bought this guitar I played quite a few and my $$$ were limited as this is just a hobby at this point in my life. I didn't play any of the epiphones though. My Studio 40 blew a transformer (I think) so I went to my local store to try out some small amps. They gave me an epi G400 to play. That prompted this review. They're not in the same league. The Epi had action like my first guitar, a sears 29.95 special in 1972 dollars. The playability of this guitar is more like a Gibson Les Paul. So anywhere I said its good for the money its pretty darn good for any money.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The guitar is heavy about 14 lbs. Neck is the most playable I've ever played at the high register which I do alot.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
My only complaint is very minor. I like a brighter pickup in the bridge position. There is very little difference in tone between the neck pickup and the bridge pickup. Perhaps I change out at some point.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Perfect. Still does.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
The action out of the box was Good but the G string buzzed on the first fret i.e. open unless picked perfectly. The intonation was excellent at both the fifth and 12th frets using an intelli imt-500. I just raised the bridge 1/4 turn on the high E end. Rechecked intonation No bridge adjustment was needed --- fixed.
