Schecter hits it out of the park!!
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I have another Schecter bass that has been my #1 bass since 2002. I think Schecter's quality, in the two basses that I own, is fantastic. No issues with the other guitar EVER. And I expect this one to be the same. The bang for your buck is exceptional. I highly recommend them.
Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
I love the push/pull tone pot. You can get a wide variety of sounds and I found one that suits me to a T. The only thing that I would change on the bass is the plastic nut. I would definitely add a graphite nut, and I will do that modification eventually.
Sound
How is its Tone?
I'm not one that has to have a different sound for every song so the tone that I dialed in works wonderful for me. Standard 70s P bass through an Ampeg...done!
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Feels like a heavy P bass. Played it for 3 hour long sets last night and didn't get tired from holding it. Anybody that complains about the weight needs to grow a set - I'm a 5'2" girl and it doesn't wear me out to play it all night. Just sayin'....
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
The highs cut through like nobodys business. The lows are punchy and full. I've read other reviews of this bass that said the pickups were too hot and were overdriving the amplifiers. I haven't had that experience with this bass myself
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
The paint job is beautiful although not accurately depicted. I got the dark blue metallic and it definitely looks bluer in the photos. Mine almost is a dark teal metallic. I was sort of disappointed in that. The quality of the finish is great however and together with the black pickguard and massive chrome bridge it is still a handsome guitar.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action was perfect out of the box. Since I tune to E glat I was a little worried that it would buzz, but it does not.

Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
This is my 3rd Schecter Bass and they have all been extremely well made and dependable instruments. This one is still new, but I expect it to last as well.

What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
The humbucking bridge pickup is da bomb. Sounds beastly.
Sound
How is its Tone?
Simply awesome. An Iron fist in a velvet glove. Plucking, slapping, tapping... doesn't matter. This bass simply growls like an animal while simultaneously being incredibly silky and glossy. It sounds like I want to sound. It's like 18 year old Macallan Scotch-- smooth as can be but will absolutely put you on your behind.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The instrument itself is quite heavy for a 4 string (I usually play a 5) but that almost certainly contributes to the exceptional growl and warmth. The neck and fretboard are slick and fast and perfect for my hands. I'm a little small, though, so guys with bigger hands may not like it as much, though it is far from the most narrow neck I've played. The fretboard feels like a very flat radius... almost concave-seeming.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
| All of the above. Bright, snappy, dark, smooth, rich.
The pickups are VERY hot. This passive bass produces significantly more signal than my active ones. |
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Paint job is fine and there were no issues with the finish anywhere. I do wish they had a natural wood version.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Action is extremely low and fluid as can be. Setup was perfect from day 1.
