Product Description

The extended scale Loomis 7-String features an arched ash body with a maple set-neck and makes other guitars tremble in its presence. The 26.5 inch scale length of this guitar allows for some of the meatiest, crunchiest tone around. Jeff Loomis knows that access to the upper frets is important, and so does Schecter, the Loomis 7-String utilizes Schecter's Ultra Access neck-joint to get the most out of your fingerboard. Other features include powerful EMG 707 pickups and an original Floyd Rose tremolo.

Kendel from Seguin, Texas, USA,
Incredible. Versatile.
What is your overall opinion of this product?
This is the last guitar that I intend to buy, because, in all honesty, I do not believe that I will need another instrument unless this one breaks in half. That being said I feel that it is a solid enough instrument that even that would be a far-fetched scenario.
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
Incredibly solid. Even though the OFR has been replaced by a 1000 series bride and its made in Korea, its a tank. I got mine in today, but I truly feel like this baby will survive a drop off of a building.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I don't feel like its super heavy but it definitely has some weight to it. It is a relatively thick body and neck compared to my Ibanez stable, but by no means is it uncomfortable. In a matter of minutes and it felt natural. its a great shape and the huge frets feel great. Plus, the satin neck feels amazing. The volume knob and pickup selector are easily accessible.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
Tone is great. I mostly use passives, so I was a little hesitant shelling out a grand to venture into unknown territory, but after a little face time at the music shop I knew it would be a good fit. I play through a Spider Valve Mk. II and can get whatever tones I desire. I don't feel the pickups are "sterile" as so many people claim. I also feel like losing the tone knob eliminates and unnecessary impedance and makes the tone that much better.
How did the stain or paint job look?
When I played the one in the shop it had a blemish in the finish. This one was immaculate. Uniform finish across the body and back of the neck.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
Having played Prs's, LP's, Prestige Ibanezs and ESPs, I would say that $999.00 is an incredible deal. Hats off to Loomis and Schecter for putting together hands down one of the best 7 strings available and keeping it affordable.
How was the action out of the box?
Mine came set up perfect out of the box. Literally. Action was great. The trem was set up perfectly. Even the fine tuners were in a perfect line. It was in perfect tune as well. For me, the combination of the action, the shape and size of the neck, and the satin finish on the back of the neck make for a good feeling axe with effortless playability.
