Schecter

The extended scale Loomis 7-String features an arched ash body with a maple set-neck and makes other guitars tremble in its presence. The 26.5 inch scale length of this guitar allows for some of the meatiest, crunchiest tone around. Jeff Loomis knows that access to the upper frets is important, and so does Schecter, the Loomis 7-String utilizes Schecter's Ultra Access neck-joint to get the most out of your fingerboard. Other features include powerful EMG 707 pickups and an original Floyd Rose tremolo.

Schecter Jeff Loomis FR Features

General
Your general opinion of this product.
I would consider myself an Ibanez guy. I have over 12 of them. However, when I made the decision to add a 7 string to the arsenal none of the Ibanez 7s felt right. My buddy is endorsed by Schecter so I tried his 7 string hellraiser and loved it. Figured Loomis is a stud so I'll try his model and I am glad I did. The thing was "in-tune" straight out of the box. Action and setup perfect on this. I've read other reviews with issues on these but not this one. Getting used to the active emgs is alittle different and I'll have to tweak my amp settings but the tone out of them is big balls awesome. I got the red satin and while I like it, it is darker than what appears on the pics. The finish was awesome and I did not find a flaw anywhere, and believe me I looked. You can't go wrong with this guitar. I am so glad I joined the dark side and bought a Schecter. Sorry Ibanez!!!!
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
Fast, low action. Well set up straight out of the box
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
I'm just gonna say I like it but getting used to active pickups. I think I'll need to tweak my amp settings
Action
How was the action out of the box?
Better then some Ibanez Prestiges right out of the box. In all honesty I unpacked and played it. Even in-tune.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Darker than expected but I still like it. No flaws
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
brand new have no idea but if it is like my buddy's schecters they'll hold up.
