Product Description

The Schecter 2012 Omen 6 6-String Electric Guitar is loaded with quality features, starting with classic design tuners in a lubricated and sealed housing to protect gears for a lifetime of maintenance free playability. Details include a 15:1 gear ratio for smooth and precise tuning, removable knobs, threaded hex peghead bushing, and a 10 millimeter diameter peg hole. Another popular design feature is the Omen 6 Rosewood fingerboard. Naturally oily, the rosewood works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact.

The 2012 Omen 6 includes Schecter Diamond Plus pickups perfect for drop tunings and made for crunchy rhythms and blistering leads. Over wound coils with a Ceramic Magnet give this aggressive high output pickup the push that will send your amp over the edge. The Omen 6 was also designed with classic design Tune-O-Matic bridge with a Schecter 'String Thru' body tail for added string tension, sustain and clarity. To top it off is the Omen 6’s maple neck that transfers a bright tone to the body.

Schecter 2012 Omen 6 6-String Electric Guitar Features

  • Maple neck’s tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood
  • Rosewood fingerboard produces rich sound, absorbing stray overtones into the oily pores
  • Schecter Diamond Plus pickups made for crunchy rhythms and blistering leads
  • Tune-O-Matic bridge with a Schecter 'String Thru' body tail for added string tension

Needs A Good Setup In Order To Be A Good Player !
What is your overall opinion of this product?
For the price, it's not that bad, but Schecter shouldn't mislead the public with the " Setup in the USA " stickers that are on the guitar. I say that because whoever supposedly did this, did a lousy job. I had to do a complete setup from top to bottom which also included adjusting the truss rod which was too tight .
What is your opinion of the quality of this product? How does it work for different genres of music?
Schecter has a rep as a builder of " Heavy Metal " guitars but, this could easily be used for Classic rock and Blues as well. It is a very well made product for which I will give them credit for.
Heavy, fast, chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
The neck on this, is very slim and along with the jumbo frets, did take some time to get used to. But once I did , it turned out to be a joy to play . Plus the volume and tone controls are not in your way while you're playing, which is a huge plus.
How is the tone? Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick or thin?
The Diamond Humbuckers are amazing and have a ton of both, sustain and tone, although the stock tone pot is not the best. It only goes from high to low with no in between . I easily rectified that by installing a Sprague . 022 Orange cap which made a huge difference . Now it sounds much better .
How did the stain or paint job look?
Mine has the White finish which I love.
Did you get what you were expecting for the price? How does it compare to similar products in the same price range?
I would say that for the price , you could definitely do a lot worse. my only gripe was the fact that this was not setup properly at the factory. Once I set it up , I was amazed at how great it sounds and also at how easily it stays in tune .
How was the action out of the box?
Out of the box, the action along with the pickup height, was very high. Also the truss rod was very tight as well. The intonation was off as well. This was just assembled and shoved into the box and onto the next one IMO.
