Schecter PT Standard Electric Guitar

A recreation of one of Schecter's most popular models from the early '80s, Schecter’s PT Standard Electric Guitar was originally made as a custom model for a well known guitarist. The PT Standard has a luxurious crème bound alder body, bolt-on 25.5 inch scale maple neck with a maple fingerboard. Schecter’s Super Rock II humbucker pickups provide that thick tone you crave and creates bright and snappy single-coil tone when you pull the tap the tone control.

Amazing guitar for the price! BUY THIS!

Quality:

The overall appearance and build quality of the guitar was excellent for the price. Very well made.

Sound:

READ ALL OF THIS! Out of the box the sound was A$$. I couldn't get a decent sound out of it. The bridge pickup was muddy and flubby/farty sounding. The neck pickup sounded thin. I was really bummed as a buddy of mine has one and it KILLS and all the vids on Youtube made this guitar sound great. The day after I got it I sat down and really tried to figure this out and it came to me. The pickup selector was wired backwards. With the toggle down/back it is normally a bridge pickup and up or forward is the neck. In this case it was wire opposite. So, when I thought I was using my bridge pickup to chug out some heavy stuff and it was actually the neck and thus the flubby sound. I popped the cover and re-soldered them in the correct position and all is good.

Reliability:

Just got it, but my buddy gigs with his and it's held up great. No issues.

Overall:

This is a very versatile guitar. If you want a certain tone or style of sound this guitar will pull it off. Fat, thick humbucker or single coil twang it's all there.

Playability and Feel:

This guitar plays very easily. The jumbo frets make for effortless fretting. It's really balanced and had a nice weight of 8.2 lbs. Not too heavy and doesn't feel like a toy.

Tone:

After fixing the pickup selector issue this thing is a monster. The coil tapping allows you to pull any sound you want out of it. I like heavier sounds and blues. Bridge position humbucker with some gain and it's a wall of sound. Neck position with a little dirt and it's a creamy blues tone.

Finish:

Flawless!

Action:

Perfect out of the box. Couldn't have set it up better if I'd done it myself.

good guitar for the price. prefer vintage size frets though.

Playability and Feel:

fairly light in weight. nice vintage radius neck. frets-ends on edge of fretboard need to be trimmed. pick up switch in the way.

pick ups are hot. sounds good live but recording or playing thru headphones, muddy and thick.
