The
SE Electronics Instrument Reflexion Filter II is designed on the same principles as its big brother the Reflexion Filter and optimized for SDC microphones that are used in instrument and drum recording. It features three layers of polyester fiberboard separated with air gaps that help reduce room ambiance and isolate the sound source and a small curved wall of punched aluminum. SE Electronics included a hole punched through the Reflexion Filter II to allow a SDC, SM57 or any similar size microphone to be mounted through it. This is especially useful when close micing drums (to help with track separation), guitars or overhead micing to reduce room ambiance. The Instrument Reflexion Filter II is ideal for use with pianos, drums acoustic and wind instruments, whereas the Reflexion Filter is suited primarily for vocals and guitars. The new finish is especially useful with stage application to help it blend into the background.
