The Shure 55SH II Dynamic Vocal Microphone provides the Shure classic UNlDYNE II design coupled with modern acoustic components to meet today's performance standards. The 55SH II microphone is excellent for vocal pickup with its characteristic Shure presence peak.
The 55SH Series II microphone has a cardioid (unidirectional) polar pickup pattern that minimizes sound pickup from the rear of the microphone. This allows the Model 55SH Series II to be used in close proximity to loudspeakers without creating feedback problems, and it can perform under adverse acoustic conditions where omnidirectional microphones cannot.
Shure 55SH II Dynamic Vocal Microphone Features
- Classic appearance, modern performance
- Frequency response tailored for speech, vocals and instrumental music
- Cardioid directional pattern for optimum performance in adverse acoustic environments
- Shock-mounted cartridge minimizes stand-transmitted noise, ensures quiet operation
- Rugged die cast case and mechanical design for reliability under rigorous conditions
- Self-tensioning swivel mount, permits tilting through 45 degrees forward and 80 degrees backward
55SH Series II Includes Swivel Stand Mount Base, On-Off Switch
The 55SH Series II from Shure has a low-impedance balanced output designed for connection to microphone inputs rated at 75 to 300 ohms. The mic features a cartridge shock mount to reduce stand noise, an On/Off switch, and an attached, self-tensioning, 5/8 inch-27 thread swivel mount. The 55SH II mic is ideal for public address or theater-stage sound systems, as well as for broadcasting, recording, and other sound applications where a stand-mounted microphone with a classic look is desirable.

Shure 55SH II Review
Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Solid, good 'ole fashioned from back in the day mic. It has a heavy casing that doesn't "feel" delicate. It also has modern technology so the sound is not too difficult to "shape". I haven't had it for very long, but with proper care and storage, this mic "feels" like it could last forever.

Features
What do you consider to be the best features of this product? What features would you add to this product if you could?
Solid built with a good weight, this mic looks both great and sounds great. This thing will last forever if properly used, maintained, and stored. Can't think of anything I would change. If so, then I would've bought another type or model.
|
Ease of Use
How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be?
Plug and play. Like all condenser mics; though, you have to have phantom power and a pre-amp specifically for this one to be utilized properly. However, if you bought this mic, then you should have the knowledge how to use it as it isn't a "beginner's" mic.

Sound
How is the tone?
I have a Behringer PMP3000 and it sounds pretty good coming out of that with an old Peavy 15" black widow cabinet w/out the horn. My girlfriend's voice is a sultry deep and mids tone which sounded really good with this despite no horn/tweeter. For a live open mic jam test, I connected a pre-amp to push the sound and the results far exceeded both our expectations. You could literally feel her voice's natural gutterals. Most mics change a voice or distort it, but this sounded like it had a nice warm natural feel to it.
