The Metal Muff utilizes three powerful EQ bands, including a midrange control designed for perfect contouring. Along with beautifully sculpted mids, the Metal Muff offers commanding bass and defined top end—coupled with user-controlled distortion from pinched-edge to totally crushing—making it a heavy metal gold mine. Features: Knob controls include Distortion, Bass, Midrange, Treble, Top Boost and Output volume. The unique Top Boost knob allows you to dial in frequencies that center between 3.5 kHz and 4.3 kHz. Add to the edge of a solo or define a powerful rhythm with a single touch of the Metal Muff’s dedicated Top Boost footswitch. The Bass has +14 dB of gain centered at 120 Hz; the Midrange has +15 dB of gain centered around 300 Hz; and the Treble has +10dB of gain centered around 1.2 kHz. Distortion has 10 dB of Gain while the output volume has a full +18dB of gain. All controls were designed to interact together for maximum cutting edge and a uniquely powerful distortion. Built like a tank. Electron harmonic makes great pedals. Sound: The tone is awesome classic rock to death metal very versitile. I own a mt-2, mxr fullbore,a tube screamer ts-9 and a seymour Duncan twin tube mayhem and this pedal smokes them all in metal tone. Reliability: Very reliable I've owned two of these pedals. I regretted selling my first one and bought another and will never part with it again. Overall: This is the ultimate metal stimpbox. Very solid build. Looks awesome. Playability and Feel: Very loose distortion. If you have a tube amp you can get a real death metal tube lag thing going. Very awesome sounding. Tone: Tone is very flexable. One way to know if you have a good amp that has headroom is to turn the bass on the metal muff past one o clock. If the amp bottoms out you need a better amp for metal. One mistake people make with this pedal is the top boost.you never want it turned past 9 or 10 o'clock or the pedal sounds shrill.top boost can be used for some rhythems if you turn it to the area around 7 o'clock or 8 this will give you a sweep like effect. You won't need to do it though because the equal without the top boost is very aggressive. There are many pedals out there and this one is the best it gust takes some getting use to. If this pedal doesn't get you the sound you want you need a better amp. If you have a peavey valveking they are not a metal amp. This pedal won't do you any good for the vk. Buy a turbo tubescreamer instead. Finish: Paint job is very metal looking Action: Action is great very solid unit does metal like it says.works good with other pedal. You have to have a amp with lots of headroom to get the most out of the metal muff.
