Takamine G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar

The Takamine G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar is an affordable, beautiful guitar with a small body, but huge tone.
Perfect for songwriting, the New Yorker features a solid spruce top, rosewood fingerboard and sides, gold tuners and a 3 piece back made of rosewood and quilted maple.

The New Yorker is the smallest profile Takamine, and a traditional old-time guitar shape that produces an immediate, clear, full-bodied tone that evokes the old 78 rpm records of the 1940’s. The strumming voice is sharp and airy, and when played finger-style, the New Yorker sings with a sweetness and character that makes the player want to dig a little deeper into the roots of American music.

Subject:Nice Addition If You Have Reasonable Expectations
Quality: It seems to be a well-built instrument.
Sound: Keep in mind this guitar has a 00 Parlor-size body. It's essentially a classical size body with a standard dreadnaught neck/scale. That said, it has a nice tone to it. It doesn't sound as warm and full as my Epiphone Hummingbird (which has a full-size dreadnaught body) but, I like the sound it produces.
Reliability: I've had it for just over thirty days and it seems to be well-made and durable. It stays in tune and can take some abuse when you play.
Overall: A very nice instrument. Love the size and it plays well. Absolutely beautiful finish. Love the gripped tuners as well. Perfect songwriting guitar.
Playability and Feel: After some minor work, it plays very well. I can spend a couple hours on it with no problem. I've compared this instrument to my Epi Hummingbird because they are similarly priced instruments. The Takamine does fall a little short of my Epi, but not by much.
Tone: Because of the body size and style, it's not nealry as warm and full as a standard-size dreadnaught. If you know that going in, you should be nothing but pleased with the sound of this instrument.
Finish: Fell in love with the look of this thing as soon as it came out of the box. No blemishes or irregularities at all. First rate.
Action: I wasn't too thrilled with the action out of the box. This guitar had noticably higher action in comparison to my Epiphone Hummingbird. However, I was able to do a little work on the neck and bridge and it's much better. Still not as nice as my Epi Hummingbird, but playable and comfortable.
Skill Level: Semi-Pro
