Tascam MPGT1 Portable MP3 Guitar Trainer

The Tascam MPGT1 is designed with musicians in mind.
It combines a guitar trainer based on the award winning Tascam CD-GT1mkII. With enough memory to store up to 240 tunes, this is even more portable than the original. Play back MP3s using Variable Speed Audition, which slows down the speed without changing the pitch, and sections can be seamlessly looped while practicing tricky passages. The guitar input lets you play with the built in multi-effects. Also includes a guitar canceller to play along with your favorite bands. A tuner, metronome, and rechargeable battery are also built-in. All these features in a package small enough to fit in your pocket. A 9-hour lithium-ion battery or an optional power supply will power the unit.

Tascam MPGT1 Features
  • 240-song memory capacity (based on average 4-minute MP3 encoded at 128kbps)
  • Variable Speed Audition changes the speed of the MP3 playback without changing the pitch
  • Pitch control in 1% steps so you don't have to re-tune
  • Seamless looping for practicing tricky passages
  • High-impedance 1/4 inch guitar input
  • Guitar multi-effects include overdrive, distortion, delay, flange, reverb and more
  • Guitar Cancel effect eliminates the guitar part from the recorded song so you can play along

  • 1/8 inch Headphone output

Quality: It is very well made. It should be treated like any other MP3 player so you definitely dont want to be dropping off a building but it wont fall apart in you hands.
Reliability: It is a great product but one feature has a glitch. This would be the playlist feature. If you start loading songs and try to play them back it will lock up the unit. It is easy enough to fix by perform a system restart but it takes away from a feature that can make using the unit easier. I have seen in other forums that this seems to be the only problem with the unit but for me it is not a reason to send it back.
Overall: Other than the above mentioned problem, I am really happy with the this MP3 player and I honestly can say I think its a super buy for both the beginner and pro.
Playability and Feel: Control are very user friendly.
Tone: The presets that come with unit are descent and give you a usable sound to take on the go.
Finish: Nice paint scheme for the unit.

QUALITY:
This is a very well built machine! Way better than the CD-GT. Very light, works just as any other MP3 player does..

FEATURES:
The best feature (like the CD-GT) is the looping and slow down feature. It works the same as before only there's NO skipping at all!!! And the effects and music sound a lot better!!!!

EASE OF USE:
Within in 5 min. out of the box I was slowing down licks. I've had the CD-GT1 for a while now so I knew a little bit how the process worked, but it wasn't hard at all to figure out.

VALUE:
This is worth every penny and more! I'd pay 300.00 for it. Not sure I'd pay much more than that though. I didn't really want to get it before I read any reviews on it but I'm gald I did, and I'm proud to be one of the first to write one.

SOUND:
The sound is off the wall!!!! With the CD-GT1 I could always hear the guitar or the music just a little better than the other, with the MP-GT not a
