Tascam US1800 USB Audio Interface

The US1800 audio interface from Tascam offers more inputs than any interface in its class. Up to 16 inputs and 4 outputs are transmitted to Mac or Windows over high-speed USB 2.0 connection. The US1800 features eight XLR microphone inputs with phantom power and 60dB of clean gain. Six balanced line inputs are also provided, as well as stereo S/PDIF digital and MIDI in and out.



Included with the US1800 is Cubase LE5, the latest workstation software from Steinberg. This 48-track audio workstation includes must-have features like automation, plug-ins, mixing, editing and MIDI tracks. Cubase LE5 uses standard VST plug-ins for adding virtual instruments and effects.

I have never been disappointed with the professional quality and durability of TASCAM audio gear, and this interface is no exception. Very rugged rack-mounted hardware that consistently functions well.

Unlike other interfaces I considered, the number and type of inputs was the biggest selling point for me (8 XLR mic, 2 front-mtd 1/4" instrument, four 1/4" line inputs and MIDI in/out in the rear). Also, TASCAM offers both 32- and 64-bit Windows drivers.

How easy is this product to use? How easy is the product to use with other products? Did it take long for you to learn to use this product? Was the manual helpful? How playable do you consider this product to be?
Hardware installation was simple and the software installation and connection/configuration to the PC (Windows) and Cubase LE-5 was straightforward. I decided to stick with Cubase and ultimately upgraded to Cubase 6 (64-bit) and Windows 7. Downloaded 64-bit drivers from TASCAM website and the interface connected and was configured quickly and easily.

inputs and outputs, it will interconnect with anything spdif/and midi were a must for me,I like having mic and guitar inputs rite in the front,plus monitor and mix so u can dial down if live recording yourself

simple,i just cross ref manual for locations on rear for in amd out.it works excellent with sonar and logic
