Taylor Guitars

The Grand Auditorium body made from Solid Sitka Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides gives the Taylor 2012 214E Acoustic Electric Guitar a great, balanced tone that works well for strummers and fingerstyle guitarists. This versatile body shape has refined proportions that fell between a Dreadnought and Grand Concert, giving the Taylor 214E great comfort with fantastic projection.

Taylor 2012 214E Acoustic Electric Guitar Features
  • Grand Auditorium body shape for a comfortable feel with great projection
  • Solid Sitka Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides
  • ES-T electronics for a fantastic tone when amplified
  • Phase switch for feedback control
  • Custom voiced EQ and dynamic response
ES-T Electronics
The ES-T is a single-source, under-saddle transducer with individual elements for each string. It features an onboard preamp and the same active controls found on the full ES. Featuring a custom-voiced EQ and dynamic response, the system is powered by a 9-volt battery, with a battery life LED power indicator (which is lit when the battery is being used). The pickup also has a Phase switch for feedback control, which is located on the preamp board inside the soundhole.

Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Perfect guitar. Not a defect anywhere. I do not see any reason there could be an issue with dependability.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
Have only had just over 2 months, so the test of time will be continuing..
General
Your general opinion of this product.
Perfect. Very nice ringing tone, plus the bass notes really add to the overall tone of this guitar.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
I like the neck size fits my fat stubby fingers well. The set up out of the box was perfect.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
I was trying to decide between the Martin OM1 and this model. They both have completely different tone. The martin is bland compared to the 214E. Plus the neck feel is better than the Martin. I am not fan of the Martin Para bond necks. The Taylor just feels right.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Finish does not have any problems at all very nice gloss top.. great quality
Action
How was the action out of the box?
PERFECT.
