Expression System
People love the clear, full acoustic tone of their Taylors. Why should it be any different when they plug in? That’s why Taylor spent several years developing their own onboard acoustic pickup and preamp. Taylor’s ground-breaking Expression System featured on the 712CE acoustic electric guitar was designed to naturally amplify the warm acoustic sound of your guitar.

The ES is an all-magnetic acoustic guitar pickup system that works like a microphone to produce a pure signal and a warm, natural acoustic sound. When you plug in, you'll hear the sound of your guitar, not the sound of the pickup. No complicated controls. No tone simulators. Just a clean amplified acoustic guitar sound supported by three simple controls - volume, bass and treble.

Playability and Feel
Awesome Investment and Awesome Guitar Too!
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
I find the craftmanship impeccable! Totally clean and hand-worked. I can't speak for the dependable part yet because I only owned it for a week. BUT, she's a Taylor and we all know of their quality; especially at this price! I'd say Lord willing, she'll last a lifetime and then some. This I know for sure...just take care of the thing and it will return the favor the way that you would expect.
How has it stood up over time?
What can I say; she's a Taylor and if she is like my others, I don't expect any problems (seriously). But then again, time will tell! I bought her for not only her sound/action and looks but for her fine craftsmanship too.
Your general opinion of this product.
Seriously awesome. Excellent bass response, clear mids and nice bright highs (but not too tight - just right. It did surprise me with how it didn't compress when I really got down on it. She rang out loud and clear allowing smooth and rich overtones when using open chords and barre as well. So my general opinion is: get one and you'll see for yourself just how nice it is. I love it.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
She's well balanced weight wise. Neck is nice and thin and smooth to the touch. The controls are simple (in a good way) yet easily accessible too. Can't bitch about this elect. set's smooth and well within reach. Almost to the point of being too easy to get to. But, hey I'm not complaining!
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
Overall, she's bright and smooth with a nice low range when applied correctly. I'm not to sure yet on the Nano Web strings - they feel good on my fingers but I fear them tearing up as I wear them in. Not sure on the strings maybe I'll grow to like them? Again, time will tell, and I'll know soon enough.
How did the stain or paint job look?
Perfect, perfect, perfect! Nothing more to say; just "perfect."
How was the action out of the box?
Very do-able. I'm not really that convinced that she'll need a set up. It handles really well (honestly). It had better for the cost, right? But seriously, she handles really well. I'm pleased. She's going out for her first gig any time now.
