| New concept, easy to play |
| Quality |
| Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable? |
| Typical of Taylor, it is beautifully put together. Woods, tuners, insets are all perfect. |
|
| Reliability |
| How has it stood up over time? |
| I've only had mine a month. I've owned Taylors (this is my 5th) for nearly ten years and they only get better as their wood ages. |
|
| General |
| Your general opinion of this product. |
| This is a completely different idea and it works, but you might want to tinker with the set up. See "Playability and Feel" for details. |
|
| Playability and Feel |
| How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing? |
| It arrived tuned to B with medium strings that felt a little heavy. Medium strings are recommended but I switched to light strings and tuned to C. It gave it a bit more buzz but it also made it the easiest guitar to play that I own -- as easy as an electric guitar. |
|
| Tone |
| Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin? |
| When it was wearing medium strings and tuned to B, it was loud and clean across the board. When I switched it to light strings and turned it to C I got a bit of string buzz. I could have fixed it but I actually think it works well for the fingerstyle playing I do. |
|
| Finish |
| How did the stain or paint job look? |
| Perfect. Just perfect. |
|
| Action |
| How was the action out of the box? |
| You have to stretch just a bit more with a baritone guitar. Once I switched to light strings, I didn't notice that any more. It was great right out of the box for most people but it is perfect now. |
