Quality
Would you consider this product to be made well? How dependable?
Typical of Taylor, it is beautifully put together. Woods, tuners, insets are all perfect.
Reliability
How has it stood up over time?
I've only had mine a month. I've owned Taylors (this is my 5th) for nearly ten years and they only get better as their wood ages.
General
Your general opinion of this product.
This is a completely different idea and it works, but you might want to tinker with the set up. See "Playability and Feel" for details.
Playability and Feel
How does it feel, Heavy, Fast, Chunky? How was the neck? Are the controls easy to get to while playing?
It arrived tuned to B with medium strings that felt a little heavy. Medium strings are recommended but I switched to light strings and tuned to C. It gave it a bit more buzz but it also made it the easiest guitar to play that I own -- as easy as an electric guitar.
Tone
Bright and snappy? Dark and smooth? Were the pickups hot, mellow, thick, thin?
When it was wearing medium strings and tuned to B, it was loud and clean across the board. When I switched it to light strings and turned it to C I got a bit of string buzz. I could have fixed it but I actually think it works well for the fingerstyle playing I do.
Finish
How did the stain or paint job look?
Perfect. Just perfect.
Action
How was the action out of the box?
You have to stretch just a bit more with a baritone guitar. Once I switched to light strings, I didn't notice that any more. It was great right out of the box for most people but it is perfect now.
