Tech 21 PW60 Power Engine60 1x12 Matching Extension Cabinet It looks like a killer Tech 21 combo guitar amp, but it's really something different. The unique Power Engine 60 is a powered, 1x12 open-back extension cabinet. Do you have a SansAmp or a favorite tube preamp or preamp/effects box (or pedalboard, or desktop processor...)? Does this sound familiar? You get great tones when you record or go direct, but when you power it thru another amp, your carefully-designed tone likely loses something. That's where the superb Power Engine comes in. This beauty packs 60 watts of transparent power and has a special design speaker, individual level control, 3-band active tone controls, and balanced XLR input, 1/4 inch input and balanced XLR output. Continuing Tech 21's tradition of designing multi-functional products, this handsome cabinet can be used with any direct recording device or acoustic pre-amp, analog or digital, tube or solid state, in stomp box or rackmount formats, from any manufacturer! That's right: Zoom, Boss, Line 6, DigiTech, Behringer, Hughes & Kettner, Marshall, Fishman, L.R. Baggs, or even Tech 21's very own line of SansAmps!
Without having to tweak all of your presets, you can take all those great direct recording sounds you've spent so much time creating out to a gig and amplify them. Just plug your SansAmp or other pre-amp into a Power Engine 60 and get all the volume you need without any additional coloration. Knowing that not all rooms are created acoustically perfect, you can compensate for less than ideal circumstances simply by adjusting the convenient, on-board active EQ controls.
With ground-independent inputs and output, there's no limit to how much power you can have. You can chain Power Engine 60s together from New York to Tokyo, and back if you like. Power Engines can also facilitate stereo configurations --with a traditional amp or with a pre-amp and stereo processor.
Whether you need an extension cabinet for your Tech 21 amp, SansAmp or pre-amp gizmo du jour, just multiply by 60 until you run out of fingers! If you've already got great tone and just need some extra volume, kick it up with 60, 120, or even 600 watts of raw muscle with the Power Engine 60.
TECH 21 - GREAT TONE. BUILT RIGHT.
In 1989, after ten years exhaustive research and development with world-class guitar amplifiers, a tired but victorious B. Andrew Barta launched his unique SansAmp. This revolutionary pedal-sized tube amplifier emulator enables musicians to dial in monster tones and patch them directly to a studio mixer or stage PA. Its discrete 100% analog circuitry uses a hyper-realistic tone structure that includes mic and speaker simulation with pre and power amp distortion characteristics. Finally, it was possible to get stunning, consistent tones without brutalizing amps, heaving speaker cabs or futzing with microphones to find that elusive sweet spot. Instead, the SansAmp delivered all of its mammoth sounds from a pocket-sized pedal.
A decade and a half later, the SansAmp technology has developed into an impressive line of products to cover every application. Each product is still hand-built in the USA using the best possible materials and exclusive components, such as our smooth custom actuators which are licensed to other major manufacturers. Tech 21’s range of products are developed with a critical ear for tonal perfection and an open ear to our customers’ needs.
The sample settings for SansAmp models and guitar and bass amplifiers include such classics as Marshall, Fender, Mesa/Boogie, SVT, and artists like Santana, Metallica, Van Halen and Hendrix. These settings are also a starting point for you to find your own individual tone and style using Tech 21's original products. Check out the massive Tech 21 Hall of Fame to see which artists have discovered Tech 21.
Welcome to the exceptional sound of Tech 21. Listen Up.

| Its very well made and compact, you would never believe the sound from looking at the picture of this amp! And its light weighted! | | Reliability:
| Mine still kicks plenty of butt!No noise cracking from the amp when its on and you can use this baby in large venues if u like! Its got the power! Mine is 2 years old now. | | Overall:
| This is a good amp for preamp users. I took a chance when i bought it, because they said, it doesnt change your preamp sound when it amplifies the preamp u are using. Its true, I have The 2112 digitech preamp and it sounds exactly the way my preamp sounds through my headphones, just amplified through the Tech 21 thats all! And I like the Celestion speaker thats in it! It very very warm like a tube amp tone, with out the tube amp weight. The wattage is based on whatever your preamp output is Plus 60 watts from the tech21 prw cab. Its got low end you wont believe and sounds sparkly and tight with good head room.Im very impress the way it makes my Ovation CC48 acoustic sound just plugged straight into it. It has tons of presents when i play my Strats through it. | | Playability and Feel:
| Its an amp you cant feel it | | Tone:
| Tone you would die for.Big round warm bottom end, Sweet not harsh highend and Nice mid range like in a fender reverb tube amp.Whichever way you set your preamp is EXACTLY the way your tone will be amplified. Nothing more or less just with more volume added to it. | | Finish:
| It looks like a little vintage tweed amp, nothing fancy but that is the products that people hardly pay attention to.But wait till you hear this amp, you will be glad you did buy it. | | Action:

| I use a Digitech GSP2101 preamp with my power engine 60. There is more than enough power to get you in trouble with the cops. The speaker has a tight, even response (great for Death Metal.) It does not change the sound of your preamp presets. If you are fed up with trying to use your preamp with other combo amps, do yourself a favor and buy a power engine 60. You will most definitely be glad you did. (I plan on buying another soon to have a stereo setup, that's how much I like it.) | |

QUALITY: This thing is made tough and rugged. It's not too heavy and it's built to handle the road.
FEATURES: The best feature of this amp is that it doesn't have many! The 3 band EQ is perfect and the amp is clean sounding as a whistle. There are no 2nd channels, reverb, or drive to deal with. Yet, it IS feature filled. 1/4" AND XLR in. XLR direct out, ground/lift switch. I've used it with a Sansamp PSA1 (which is the best preamp ever made, by the way), a Boss GT3, Vox Tonelabse, and soon the Sansamp GT2. It's got power and doesn't color your tone, yet it gives you that speaker variance that you don't get from going direct (going direct sounds like hog mess even with a good amp emulator if you're using drive/distortion), and it's punchy for reproducing great tone.
EASE OF USE: 4 knobs: volume, hi, mid, low. Plug in and plug out. on/off switch. doesn't get any easier.
VALUE: $300 seems a little much for just a s |
