Universal Audio UAD 1 Project Pak DSP Card The Universal Audio UAD 1 Project Pak includes the proprietary ultra high-performance performance UAD-1 universal PCI (PCI-X compatible) DSP card and v3.5 software which includes a collection of 15 Universal Audio plug-ins including: the 1176SE vintage compressor, the Pultec EQP-1A classic EQ, RealVerb Pro, Nigel guitar processor, EX-1 EQ & Compressor, the DM-1 Delay Modulator and the CS-1 Channel Strip. The CS-1 itself includes a collection of plug-ins developed specifically for the UAD-1, including EQ, compression, delay modulation, and reflection engine modules. Nigel is also a suite of plug-ins, including the Pre-flex amp and speaker cabinet modeler, echo, delay modulation, tremolo, modulation filter, compressor/gate and phasor. As with the CS-1, these components can be used together or separately. The UAD-1 Project Pak can expanded with additional plug-ins such as the LA-2A, 1176LN, Cambridge EQ, Dreamverb and Fairchild 670.

The UAD-1 Project Pak brings UA’s revolutionary combination of DSP hardware and highly-prized software plug-ins within the reach of small PC or Mac project studios with a limited budget. It is also how existing users can inexpensively take advantage of even greater power, by using multiple UAD-1 cards (up to four per system). The UAD-1 Project Pak supports 44.1 to 192khz sessions and is the easiest way to upgrade your mixes and get that professional polished sound using your existing DAW software/hardware without needing a computer upgrade.
At heart of the UAD-1 Studio Pak is the same single unpartitioned, floating-point super-computing processor which allows for larger and more sophisticated processing algorithms offering a new level of power and complexity not found with host-based plug-ins. By greatly reducing the burden on your computer’s CPU, your host application can now deliver more tracks, automation and native effects.
Included Plugins
1176SE Limiting Amplifier Emulation
The 1176SE is derived from the 1176LN. Its algorithm has been revised in orderto provide sonic characteristics similar to the 1176LN but with significantly less DSP usage. It is provided to allow 1176LN-like sound when DSP resources are limited.
The 1176SE behavior is practically identical to the 1176LN. Its sound is nearly identical too, but certain compromises had to be made in order to squeeze the extra DSP performance that the 1176SE provides. At typical settings the sonic difference is negligible. At extreme (cranked) settings, nobody with golden ears will say it sounds exactly like the 1176LN, but it still sounds great and is very usable in most situations.
CS-1 Channel Strip
The CS-1 Channel Strip provides all the tools you need for recording and mixing in one simple plug-in (using only one insert!) With a unique smoothing algorithm for all controls and DSP conserving bypass switches built-in, The CS-1 packs a whopping punch into a small package. Included in the CS-1 are the EX-1 EQ/Compressor, the DM-1 Delay Modulator, and the unique RS-1 Reflection Engine. Of course, if you don't need all that power, you can use each module within the CS-1 separately. Use as much or as little as desired for your particular needs.
RealVerb Pro

Nigel
Nigel offers the latest generation of guitar processing technology integrated into a complete multi-effects plug-in solution. Utilizing Universal Audio's exclusive component modeling technology and intuitive design, Nigel delivers a complete pallet of guitar tones along with most every effect a guitar player might need, all with minimal latency and no load on your host computer's CPU. In addition, Nigel's Preflex advanced guitar amp modeling technology goes well beyond the usual pre-amp/amp/cabinet emulators. In addition to delivering a wide range of highly playable classic amp tones from the Clean & Warm California tube sound to more metal soaked British tones, a bevy of original timbres simply not possible on any other guitar system can be realized. Preflex also offers variable morphing between any two amp presets, truly bringing creative guitar voicing to the next level.
Pultec EQP-1A EQ Emulation
The Pultec EQP-1A Program Equalizer plug-in is a faithful electronic reproduction of the classic hardware equalizer. The Pultec EQ has long been a choice of recording and mastering engineers for its ability to bring out individual frequency ranges without significantly altering other frequencies. In addition, the Pultec is one of those magical pieces of gear that makes audio sound better - just by passing through it. The sophisticated modeling technology used in the Pultec EQP-1A plug-in captures both of these key characteristics.
Pultec Pro Included thru 6-30-04
Universal Audio's Pultec-Pro combines the Pultec MEQ-5 Midrange Equalizer and the Pultec EQP-1A Program Equalizer, two of the most sought-after hardware EQs, into one plugin that is the very essence of vintage EQ emulation. The Pultec MEQ-5 Midrange Equalizer has been out of production for some time, and is the ultimate compliment to the Pultec EQP-1A. Most studios liked to have one of each for full bandwidth vintage EQ, and the MEQ-5 section allows you to boost and cut midrange bands with the same silky smoothness and personality of the original MEQ-5 hardware. Either EQ section can be enabled or disabled separately, saving DSP power on your UAD-1. Like the EQP-1A, the MEQ-5 was meticulously modeled with the attention to detail you expect from Universal Audio.
